I thought I answered this but maybe forgot to hit Answer. The letter opener is 12 inches long, 1/2 wide at the center, with the sheath on, and 2 inches wide at the hilt.

Q: What is scabbard made of?

I don't know what material(s) went into the making of the scabbard, or sheath, including the metal ornamentations, but the scabbard is hard and solid.

Q: Does this come with a stand or does it lay down? It appears to have had stand in a previous name but now just says the sheath

Don't know about a previous incarnation, but each of the two versions of the same dagger/letter opener I bought came with a sheath I never saw a stand for these items when I looking at them on the site
