Cap Barbell Black Cast Iron Hex Dumbbell | 5-120 LBs | Single or Pair

So the 50 pound dumbbells I got are good, no loose heads or serious issues. The finish isn’t perfect, they have some chips and what not, but I expected that when having 50 pounders delivered. The knurling is fine, not very sharp but it’s good (I got 40s in the past with some wild burrs that had to be filed so you wouldn’t be cut, this set was much tamer).I didn’t love the packaging. They were in two cardboard boxes (for each dumbbell, they were delivered separately of course), both of which were destroyed, filthy, and wet since it’s been snowing here. One box was entirely open on one side, however given the weight of these I’m not surprised and I honestly feel bad for the delivery driver who had to deliver two 50 pound boxes to my door. So, thanks to that guy.But either way, the packaging really wasn’t good enough for 50 pound dumbbells. They had a plastic bag wrapped around them inside as well, which seemed to be extremely old. The plastic was torn and destroyed, so I’m guessing these have been sitting around for a long time.They were dirty as well, but nothing a little alcohol can’t clean.I held off on ordering dumbbells this heavy online for a while, but went for it here. It turned out fine in my case, they are not damaged in any meaningful way (again the finish isn’t perfect but I don’t care, they’re just dumbbells). Maybe I got lucky but I’m happy with them.One thing I cannot comment on is their exact weight, I don’t have a scale here (I weigh myself at my shop, should probably buy a scale for home).

Pleased with these dumbbells, the grip is smooth straight shafts with some paint edge artifacts. Size looked small but fit nicely in to my hand, fingers dont touch my palm.Finish is a bit rough in some spots and one of mine got a small ding at some point in initial shipping, was re boxed by amazon and no additional damage occurred. Great for the price. Paint feels a bit rubbery but its either to soften putting them down or will cure with some more time.Over all good value would buy again. (got them for a little over a 1/lbs)

These work great, and were a great price for the item! The weights are quite balanced, and great for a beginner like me. I found no dents or chips in the weights, and they aren't slippery in the hands either. The tag they came with was somehow really sticky on one dumbbell, and i was worried it would leave residue, but a quick wipe with a wet paper towel got it all off. My sore arms aren't all that happy after a few weeks of working out, but I am definitely getting some definition and tone in there.Overall, very happy with my purchase, and would recommend for beginners.

I actually bought this to replace a dumbbell I purchased from Amazon during the pandemic. The one I replaced was not made by CAP, and was pretty poor quality (chipping paint, shoddy casting and assembly, etc.). I also have an older CAP dumbbell, just like the one I'm reviewing here, and the quality is excellent. This new CAP dumbbell looked nearly perfect when I received it but, surprisingly, there were a couple of dents. It's held up well, but I am starting to see some small chips, leading me to think that CAP's quality control, post pandemic, has slipped a little bit. I still think CAP is the standard for this type of dumbbell, and I'd probably buy another one, but it's not quite as nice as the one I bought 5 or 6 years ago.

What I disliked is at some point they fell out of the packaging during delivery, 30 lbs, and they are scraped up because of that. Not a big deal, they are weights after all.

I'm absolutely loving my Cast iron dumbbells! The quality is TOP-Notch and the weight distribution is perfectly even.
