Best Tea Kettle Ever
When my first kettle arrived, I put water in it, and it leaked around the base of the spout. The lid also didn't snap in all the way (and the inadequate pressure kept the whistle from working). I called Amazon and got it replaced. Ever since then, I have been overjoyed!I will admit, it took me a couple of uses to get used to. My old kettle had the button for the spout on the top, and the silicone grip on this one is set back a little. It's also bell-shaped, which means developing a new pouring technique to get the last of the liquid out. Change always brings an adjusting period with it, though.I love the silicone grip. It never gets hot. I love the lever for the spout being under the handle - rather than squeezing to open the spout, I hang the kettle on my hand and let its the weight do the work. The kettle is generously sized. It heats quickly - twice as fast as my old one - and it retains the heat well, so my tea stays hotter, longer. It's incredibly durable. It's easy to clean. The whistle is loud (if you have trouble hearing it or the sound warbles a little, put slightly less water in it next time). It's beautiful. I've mastered the slight twist that gets the last few drops out. And because it contributed to the death of my previous kettle - I love the fact that it's not flat on top (long story). It does have one small imperfection... There's no strainer on the inside of the kettle to prevent a teabag from pouring out of the spout. Usually, this kettle's shape will prevent this from happening, but should the teabag pour out when you want it to steep longer, you have to take the lid off while the tea is hot. The lid fits so snugly that taking it off when the kettle is hot takes a bit of effort to keep from getting burned. But in a year, that's only happened three times, and if you use the kettle just for hot water, it shouldn't be an issue.I was nervous about spending $50 for a tea kettle, but it has been worth everything I paid for it. I love it, and when/if something happens to this one, I'm buying another.

SUPERIOR IN QUALITY AND CONSTRUCTION
This is the best tea kettle I've ever owned, hands down! The minute I took it out of the box, I realized it was NOT like the typical kettles you find at Bed Bath & Beyond and similar stores that may have the same "look", but are nowhere near the quality. This kettle is heavy duty stainless steel, and I mean HEAVY DUTY. It conducts heat beautifully, and brings water to a boil quickly. It has no seams (which in other kettles leak sooner rather than later) and it has a large enough opening in the top to make it very easy to clean. The whistle is the wonderfully simple type at the end of the spout (if you've ever had one that has the "loose ball" type of whistle mechanism, you'll know why I say this! LOL) and it has a neat, clean pour. AND AND AND, it's CUTE! If I'd have found this kettle on a shelf at a retail store, after picking it up and looking at it, I'd have expected the price to be TWICE what it is. Rarely have I purchased something online that has exceeded my expectations to this degree. If you're on the fence about choosing this kettle, take my advice and BUY IT! You'll LOVE IT!

Great investment!
After looking at several websites and reading the reviews here, we bought this teakettle. We were grateful for the heads up about Revere Ware not being what it once was. Our decades old Revere stainless copper bottom looked as if it was on the way out. To be fair, we have had family members let it boil dry more than once, but this time the bottom seemed to be bulging out a bit. Now, for the new one, which we have sworn to guard much more carefully. It is everything the others have said, including the fact that the lid must be tight for the whistle to work fully. The sound is still not as loud as the old Revere, but plenty loud enough. The water heats up equally as fast as our old pot. Just like any teapot, if it is filled too much, water will boil over from the spout. The lid is very useful for filling the pot (the Revere Ware pots are filled through the spout), especially for those of us who have water filters attached to the faucet, which can get in the way.The weight is quite substantial, the workmanship is excellent, and no copper bottom to tarnish! The pot did come with a tiny streak along the side (grease, adhesive?), which a dab of multi-purpose metal polish removed. The gauge of the new kettle is thicker than the Revere Ware. I don't know why the price is this low for a kettle that seems in line with others at high end retailers that cost upwards of $100. We are glad to have this one, especially at such a competitive price. It fits on the largest burner on our electric stove. The base of the teapot is quite wide, as other reviewers have mentioned. It does not look clunky at all, even though substantially larger than the smaller teakettles one sometimes sees at fancy tea shops. The shipping was prompt, and the item was packed well. There was a recent article in the New York Times about well designed teakettles, and, while this one wasn't mentioned there was one that looks very much like this one, for quite a lot more.
