Great Watch, Good Battery Time, Flawless Operation
I bought this renewed item and have been very happy since. I have had no issues with the watch, and the watch looked like new. I was not totally sure as to how I might use the functions of the watch. Over time I have found that I like getting the notifications on my watch, phone calls, reminders, and calendar notifications, etc. . I use the stop watch and timer operations in the kitchen, or for other odds and ends. I can roam freely thru my house, without having my phone on me, and have my watch immediately let me know what's up. When I am at the end of my house, I do not have to RUN to catch a phone call, before it switches to voice mail. I answer my phone on my watch, and talk on my watch. The sound is clear and loud enough, and the people on the other end hear me o.k. Yep, LOVE this watch! One important thing though, if you want the timer & reminder apps, you went need to get them through the galaxy store, as they do not come with the watch. Some people have not seen that they can get other apps from the galaxy store, with the feature one being the timer app, and just thought the watch does not have it. Well, there are many other apps available through the store, but you just have to download them to the watch. UPDATE: Sept., 28, 2021 Well, got a good one for you here! Do you want to know how OUTSTANDING this watch is against water/hard treatment? Well, get this. I found that I had accidentally WASHED my watch in my washing machine. It went through all of the cycles! I found in in the bottom of my tub, when I took all clothes out. I let it sit for two days, to give any water inside time to dry, and just turned it on. IT WORKS FINE!! Wow!!

It's been about a month, first review
I bought this renewed from Amazon. I was genuinely impressed by the packaging it came in, every accessory was included and the watch looked like it was never used. Currently, I am getting about 3 days of battery with some minor tweaking of the settings that I found on YouTube and others. The first few days I played with it but now I wear it as a watch mostly because I am not a fitness guru or jogging enthusiast. I do make and receive a few phone calls on it via Bluetooth but I keep the Wi-Fi off for battery savings. I love getting my text/email/etc notifications on my watch thus keeping my phone out of my hands while I drive. I also get daily briefings, however I generally don't read them because it is pretty small text and I am not 20 years old anymore. Twice I got a notice on my watch saying something about ambient air pressure dropping and be prepared for inclement weather, the first time it happened it started raining in about 10-15 minutes, the second time it happened the tornado siren starting blowing about 25 minutes later! Luckily it was a false alarm, there was no tornado sighted and the hot spot was about 30 minutes away from me. DO NOT take this review as a tornado predictor! But the fact that there is a built in barometer is really cool, and a built in altimeter is useful if you are a mountain hiker I suppose, which I am NOT. I got way more than I paid for or wanted but I would certainly recommend it to anyone just wanting a very nice looking watch, let alone all the other cool things it is capable of doing. My biggest concern was water. I burned up three Samsung Gear S3 because of sweat or washing my hands and I returned them to AT&T who sold them to me, they took them under protest but they all died in less than 3 weeks. I have worn this particular watch in the shower, in the pool, in the hot tub and no defects so far. If you are looking for a beautiful watch that works great, I recommend it very much!

Splendid Watch
Renewed? Mine is like brand new and came with 2 bands. Not so much as a scratch. I have several watches including an ancient Rolex Submariner. I doubt that any of them will ever see daylight again. This thing is incredible. I walk quite a bit. The watch has about 1.5gb of music storage and connects flawlessly to Sony earbuds. Now I can leave my phone at home and still enjoy music. Plus I expect that my gym will reopen soon.. There are numerous watch faces built in and others are available at the Samsung store (I think for free). Unlike some other smartwatches this has many features that work independently of the phone it is connected to. It is loaded with goodies and a complete manual (PDF) is available at the Samsung website. I definitely recommend downloading the manual to take full advantage of the device. All of the faces are very easy to read. The sports face I am using (today - it's fun to change from time to time) shows time, date, heart rate, battery charge and two step counters. Other faces also show the day of week. There is some textual information provided by apps and notices. While it is small print it is surprisingly easy to read due to the quality of the display. I did have some trouble entering my wifi password as my finger doesn't always tap the intended target. (I am 72 and have a tremor.) I am using the setting that keeps the watch displayed at all times (with dim lighting). When my wrist is tilted to read the screen the face is fully lit. Battery life is fair. I am charging every other day. The charger, by the way, is magnetic. No plugs to fool with. If there is a downside it is the complexity. There are two buttons, bezel turns, swipes and touches that do various things. It is a learning process. A smartphone is much easier to use just by virtue of the difference in screen size. However, you can activate voice commands. It functions like Google Assistant or Alexis. All in all, most people will really love this watch. Presumably people who hate techie things won't buy it in the first place. As always, YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY.

Excellent Pebble Replacement!
Have been a diehard Pebble user since the Pebble 1. With a switch to a new phone (ironically an S7 to an LG G8) and the death of the old Pebble app from Google Play, the time was right to seek an alternative. First, the battery life. It is categorically impossible to get the Pebble Time Steel's battery life on a typical smartwatch. I was able to get 7-10 days off that device. For how I am using it, the Samsung has lasted 48 to 54 hours straight, which means I can have two sleep cycles before I charge. Charging is reasonably fast, where I have gone from 10% to 75% in the span of an hour. This is sufficient for my needs. I run the Always On Display at adaptive brightness and a custom watchface to maximize battery life, and turn off the screen when sleeping at night. The design. It looks like a real watch! I do not run any kind of protective cover on my watches smart or otherwise so can't comment on added bulk. As it stands with a realistic watchface, it will do a very good job at imitating the real thing at a glance. I was going to add an add-on bezel cover to allow the whole watch to be silver but wasn't satisfied and went back to stock. The interface. The simple action of rotating the bezel is a marvelously intuitive action, very similar to the excellent push-button layout of the Pebble. However, with the addition of the touchscreen there are just so many more actions you can take. Aside from a few unexpected watchface changes, the touchscreen has proven remarkably difficult to accidentally use, a big concern of mine leaving the Pebble. Notifications and calendar. Pebble's Timeline feature cannot be surpassed, it was that good. The Samsung however does an excellent job at it once you configure the watch for quick access to calendar. I keep my daily appointments one swipe over, and monthly two swipes over. It works very well! Another huge thing is interacting with notifications, such as authenticator apps. I no longer constantly have to pull out my phone just to sign in! Steps and sleep tracking. The Samsung is much better than the Pebble at this, tracking many different exercises and even generating exercise reports when performing unexpected labor. While carrying bags of mulch around the yard for a half hour, the Samsung reported back how many calories I'd burned, a real unexpected benefit! As well, the sleep tracker pinpoints the time in each level of sleep as well as the whole, very useful to find that optimum sleep position. Music and calling. I haven't used this much in the real world. In testing, my receivers reported that my voice was clear and understandable. My comfort level with such Star Trek-like tech isn't high enough (too "geeky"), but I know some of you will love it! Music, I've had no experience with but I imagine it will impact battery life quite heavily. Finally, while a bit bigger on my wrist than expected, the Samsung is still a good size. I immediately changed the band to a Horween leather one and it instantly dressed it up. The 22 band size is shared with the Pebble, and with a quick release strap it's very easy to swap. The biggest knock I had against the Pebble is that no matter how much you tried to dress it up, the Pebble was always square and 'techy. The Samsung can be dressed up and down much easier, although with both it can be a challenge to wear with a properly fitted shirt because of the watch thickness. A more casual button down is fine. Competition? I strongly considered the Garmin Fenix 5 series, but ultimately felt it was too expensive and too focused on sports activities and not enough on business-level notifications such as emails, texts, appointments, Teams/Slack messages. It is gorgeous though. Apple Watch was never on my radar because I am an Android user. Downsides? - The battery life isn't as good, so finding opportunities to charge it without disrupting sleep or work is a challenge, especially when on call. - Watchface customization is severely limited without third party apps, and third party watchfaces inevitably eat more battery. I don't like how deceptively paywalled watchfaces and watchface apps are, and access to the Samsung watch apps sometimes requires additional fees (licensing fees?) which are rolled into purchases. - Always On Display (AoD) mode dims the screen (AoD is on in the picture of the two watches side by side) and may be difficult to read in bright sunlight depending on the watchface colors, plus you cannot manually adjust the brightness of AoD separately from the normal display. All in all, I am very pleased with the watch and a convert to Amazon Renewed. The product arrived exactly as expected, no third-party adapters and all accessories included, still had some plastic wrap on the metal parts of the watch! Will absolutely be looking this way again when they improve the Galaxy watch for round 2!

the updated app doesn't work unless you have a samsung phone, DONT BUY GEAR WATCHES
I have spent hours and hours on the phone with technical support and they can't fix the app, and it appears that they have know about the apps problems for 5 or 6 months and don't tell people before they buy the phone. I have a google pixel 3, and with the old version of the app everything worked just fine, I already had 3 gear watches. The current app that they can't seem to fix gives a blank white screen when you tap to sign into your gear account, and without the gear account being connected, you can't update apps, get any new watch faces get notifications properly or do most of the smart functions you want to work when you spend hundreds of dollars on a watch. I happened to buy two new watches, this gear sport and the new gear watch 46mm. After the tech people on the phone were done with me, not only did the new phones not connect, they had me reset all my other watches, so now I have 5 watches that don't function because they can't fix the app. UNLESS YOU HAVE A SAMSUNG PHONE TO USE WITH IT, DON'T BUY ANY GEAR WATCHES, YOU WILL BE VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. Samsung should be letting people know, and letting sellers know that they have this problem and have know since at least October of 2018 going by the threads I have found of other people complaining about the problem. I wondered why the prices had dropped so much on these watches, they are great when the app works, without the app there is nothing smart about them, they are just a watch. As far as I am concerned, they are defrauding people buy continuing to sell theses watches and not telling people the smart functions won't work. They had me download and send them log files from my phone and the watches and then I never hear from them again, they have no idea how to fix the problem and screw up peoples phones and watches playing tech support like they do. Very happy with it
First review so sorry if I don't review it properly, but I felt I should review refurbished tech since I am very nervous about buying refurbished electronics. But, at least for me I am very happy with the watch. This is my first smartwatch, and I only had it for 2 days. I saw a few reviews about scratches, scuffs, or other marks and that just might be luck of the draw. My watch came promptly. It only has a few minor scuffs on the casing and bezel that you have to hold it in the right light, and look closely to notice. Everything works on it with no lagging, stiffness, or anything like that. It came with 60% battery. After fully charging the watch I wore it for a full 24 hours, and the battery was still at about 73% I think it would still last for a few days on a full charge. The charger I got wasn't Samsung's brand, but it charged from over 50% to fully charged in 50 minutes. From the reviews I watched about new Samsung Smartwatches, it takes a little over 2 hours to go from 0% to 100% so the off-brand charger works about as well as Samsung's as far as I can tell. The watch itself is a little big for me since I have small wrists but I haven't bumped it on anything yet. If you wear long sleeves that are tight around your wrist (like I have on my rain gear) it is a bit annoying. Overall a great deal to get $90 off a well made, great functioning smartwatch.

A fantastic watch but Bixby is preventing these watches from being hands-down #1
An I impressive product so far. Full disclosure: I've only had it for two days. That said, it was seamless to set up, has great functions, battery life and the flexibility of interface is refreshing (as is the overall functionality.) My ONLY real complaint thus far is Bixby. Talk about an obsolete AI. It's truly awful. Example: My question: "Bixby, what's the distance between Reno, NV and San Fransisco, CA?"...it can't do it no matter how I phrase it. Or ask it about a local, well know store/restaurant. Or probe it to do a imple, mathematical calculation!!! In 2020, that's just so far behind the curve. That said, Samsung Wear APP is well thought out. IMO, it provided a seamless transition between earbuds, your phone, various accounts, etc. and... Samsung Pay is impressive as is Samsung health. Talk to text-great. Notifications and ability to adapt how you see your information, also diverse. It takes a little work to set these things up but not excessively so. However, Bixby AI really needs a TON OF WORK. Not being able to use other AI or search platforms on this watch truly prevents it from being a stand alone tool. It's still behind Apple watches consequently, which sucks because I refuse to buy Apple again.
