I live in Los Angeles and it's well documented and widely known that we are in a severe drought. Originally, LA had five different water sources ranging from upstate to the Owens River. So the water changes periodically and it can be quite hard in quality. That really took a toll on my hair. I have brown hair and have never colored my hair once in my entire life. My hair started to turn a brassy, orange color and got very dried out and nothing seemed to help. So I got this filter and cut my hair and started fresh. I haven't had any problems. This shower head also protects from bacterial growth or bacteria in general. It's a great filter. I change it as recommended. It's very easy to use. All you do is pop it into the corresponding shower head, making sure not to let the rubber washers move off (there's no reason they should but they ensure that the filter stays in place so that it is effective). I will say that buying and using this filter is one of the smartest moves I've ever made. Using this shower filter is a lot cheaper than dying and treating my hair, and in general I have a better shower experience. No matter where I live I can still use this filter. I think this is a smart buy and if you are on the fence about what shower head and filter to get I'd say this is a safe purchase. It's effective and the price point is very reasonable. You'll be happy you got this and when you need to replace it you won't be set back as much as with other filters. Good luck!

I have well water that’s as hard as a rock. Although my landlord has quite an elaborate expensive water filtration system, the water is still hard and tastes awful. After living here a few months, my hair started to change. It went from soft, sleek, and shiny, to dull, tangled, dry and brittle. I tried other shower head filters but saw no difference. My water at home has been hard for many years. Often leaving my scalp and skin dry just minutes after showering. Sure, shampoos and skin moisturizers helped. But I was still unhappy. One day I was looking to replace my shower head for something that will give me more water pressure. I then stumbled onto the a Culligan shower head with a filter and I decided to give it a try. This changed everything for me. Not only did I get better water flow (after removing the flow restrictor), I now have softer water, less chlorine and no mineral deposit on the tiles thanks to the Culligan shower head filter. There has been a big improvement in my dry scalp and skin. The Culligan filter is a must have if you have hard water in your home. One filter normally last me 4-5 months for a household of 2. But that can vary for you depending on your household size and water condition. Once you experience a big drop in the water flow, it is time to replace the filter. For those people who have a hard time removing the filter from the shower head when replacing it, I am able to pull it out with little effort using a thin rubber pad to grip the tip of the filter. Try using something similar, like your dishwashing cleaning gloves.

so I've had this for almost six months now and it definitely filters out the chlorine in the water. i live in san diego so we have really hard water and high levels of chlorine in our water. with this installed, it makes a huge difference. i can't smell or taste the chlorine, i even poured a glass of water from shower head, chilled it and it tasted like my Pur filtered tap water! The only issue is that after a month i started to lose water pressure as the filter became clogged. i had to take it out and turn flip it and that works for another month or so. now i'm flipping it around once a week now, but it only takes 30 seconds to do. this can be attributed to the hardness of my water clogging it up quickly, so i take that into account. other than than, it works great and i can take a hot steamy shower without inhaling chlorine. for the price, it's worth it, i don't expect much more, if i had the money, i'd try to find one that would last longer. for the money and the quality of the water it puts out, it gets a five star rating, just annoying how fast it clogs, so i had to drop it a star...

Great product, easy to install and most importantly soften the water. We live in Saudi Arabia where the water is extremely hard. It is so hard that you are advised to buy water. No one drinks tab water or cook with it here. We only use it for laundry, showers etc. anything for topical cleanse. I use the shower filter in my bathroom and my husband doesn't have one in his bathroom. He has so much calcium deposits from hard water on his tab and his skin is dried out. He has to apply creams to his body immediately after getting out of his shower even though he use dove soap which is by far the most moisturizing soap on the shelve. On the other hand, I use dove soap with my shower filter and do not have to apply creams after a shower. My skin do not dry out and neither does my hair. My hair is soft and does not fall out, break etc like before. If you considering buying this filter, also buy the shower head. That's what I did.

I have been using this filter and shower head for 3 years now and can definitely see a significant difference in my little boys dry skin. I can also feel the difference when I shower, my skin is less dry. Please note, I've found, living in a very hard water area such as London, the filter lasts for approx 6 months.

Definitely helps with better hair and skin. Important if you live in an area with hard water. Each filter lasts about 8 months, although that depends on the harshness of the water. Easy to replace. (If, during replacement, the main container can't be unscrewed, soak it in vinegar overnight because the harshness of the water may have caused scaling. Then it'll come undone and you can replace the filter.)
