Winter work boot that holds up.
This is the second pair of Chippewa's that I have bought for a winter work boot. The first pair that I bought lasted me through two winter seasons. When I first got these boots I was impressed with how supple the leather was. They do not take more than one good day of work to break in well. This has been the same with both pairs. The first pair that I bought had one of the metal boot lace grommets break off within the first week. Luckily there was still a metal reinforced hole underneath so it didn't render the boots unusable. This did make them harder to get on and off. It is also the reason I am deducting one star. The leather held up much better than I was expecting given my experience with other winter work boots, mostly Timberlands. I am usually working on muddy sites and wire brush my boots when I'm leaving. They held up to this punishment. Even three years on there is very little cracking. After two years the linings on the inside did wear through near the heel. This made them slightly more susceptible to wetness, but I was able to clean off the leather and apply Nikwax which solved the problem. In reordering these boots I at first ordered the same size I previously had 11 and found them to be a bit snug. Stepping up a half size and ordering the wide version got the fit right. I have seen in some other reviews that they tend to run a bit small. I wear them with thick socks (it's cold out) so this might be part of the fit issue. I noticed that sizing up half also seems to keep my toes warmer.I have found them soles to be very nice on my feet and provide all day comfort. The Vibram soles provide good tracking without big lugs that track unholy amounts of dirt into my house.I think for the price, around $180, it would be hard to find a better boot.

Good quality boot
First off I've owned half a dozen pairs of chippewa boots, these are no different. Great quality wear good, but a little on the heavy side. I'll update this a year in or so.

3rd pair!
Third pair of these boots. 2 -3 years each lasted. Laces that they come with don't last a month. The most comfortable boots I have ever owned.

Very disappointed with this boot.
This boot looks nice and rugged but it’s not true to size. After spending a lot of money on this boot I think I have to keep shopping because the boot fits very tight. I figured after a few weeks of wearing these boots they would loosen up but that is not the case..Very disappointed
