Excellent Mat for the Price
I don't often write reviews but, after reading many of the average reviews for these mats, I was left mystified. I have gone through several exercise mats in my fitness "career" and CAP's Barbell Puzzle Mat easily has the best quality-to-price ratio that I have encountered.Compared to many of the other mats that I've purchased (which were honestly little more than thin pads of rubber), this mat actually feels like it was designed for heavy duty exercise. The foam is half an inch thick so you don't have to worry about heavy weights damaging your floor through the mat.For instance, I recently decided to repaint my basement walls and had to go about moving my equipment which includes a 700 lb weight set. Out of curiosity, I removed the mats which have been down for approximately six months.I would never have known that 700 lbs worth of weights had been resting on that spot--the carpet looks as good as when I bought the house. It's not matted down and frayed and there aren't any divots in the floor (as used to occur with the other mats I'd had the misfortune of buying). If the woman would agree, I'd lay these things all over the house to save the carpeting! In all seriousness, I shopped around extensively and mats like this at a home goods store or your local exercise store would cost about double what you pay for them here on Amazon. You'd be hard pressed to find comparable mats for less than $40 a set. With these, I covered my entire basement's workout area for less than $100. It is a tremendous value. And in response to other reviewers' complaints that these mats won't withstand "dropping heavy weights," with all due respect, you shouldn't be dropping heavy weights at all. There isn't a gym on the planet where that is an acceptable practice. So, if professional lifting facilities outfitted with industrial grade flooring insist that weights be lowered carefully to prevent destruction of property and/or injury, why in the world would you think that dropping weights in your own home is a great idea?Quick tip: lowering the weight is just as important as lifting it; so if you can't set it down, you're probably going too heavy. It isn't CAP's fault if you exhibit faulty judgment. Now before I sound like a CAP apologist, I will add that the mats aren't as viscous as I would prefer. When you find yourself sweating profusely, and step onto a wet spot on the mat, the mat's ridges don't grip your shoes as well as you would think. Don't get me wrong; I haven't come close to falling while lifting or jumping but the mat isn't quite as tacky as I expect. That's what towels are for I suppose. In summation:PROS: Solid, heavy-duty construction Half an inch thick so your floors are well protected even from heavy weight Have ridges to catch your training shoes to minimize slipping Awesome price!CONS: Not the most slip-resistant mat on the market Has a strong, rubbery smell that persists for a few days after opening. In short, these mats are a good value and I strongly recommend them if you don't feel like paying two to three times as much for comparable mats.

Works well for my needs
I purchased these mats as floor for an ice fishing shanty and wanted them to serve 2 purposes: 1)Something that provided a barrier between the bottom of my boots and the ice and 2) a dry area to set some gear. These worked perfectly for that. They are light, not too bulky, don't take up a lot of room and easy to transport in a sled.I bought a 2nd set of these to place individual panels along the wall of the shanty in order to provide a little more insulation (they have an R-Value of 2) and they worked great for that purpose as well.I am happy with the purchase and appreciated the versatility of the mats.

Quality for the price. Minor cosmetic flaws.
I bought this product for moderate general purpose use (sit-ups, push-ups, dumbbells) in a basement with poured concrete floors covered with linoleum tiles.Physically: 6 mats and 12 edge pieces were included. In a 2x3 arrangement, the mats measure about 49.25" x 72.375" roughly. It was difficult to measure the mats because they varied, in my experience, by about a quarter inch from one side to the other, over the 6 foot length. A 1x6 arrangement is not possible because it would require 14 edge pieces of 12 that are included. They seem to be made of a very dense foam.Cosmetically: All of my pieces appear similar from afar (no discernible color difference unlike some other reviews). The photo on the back of the product picture shipped with the package has one tile of the six that does not match the others slightly, leading me to believe that it is normal to expect a tile that doesn't entirely match and it seems that I got one but it wasn't a color difference. One of my tiles is significantly grittier and more textured than the other 5 which makes me suspect they aren't all from the same manufacturing batch. The pattern of the tiles isn't entirely straight either and over a six foot length, its noticeable how it seems to run off the side. This matters when you go to interlock the other puzzle pieces because the pattern then doesn't always line up (and I couldn't find a way for all of mine to line up right in a 2x3 arrangement)Summary: If you're going to do sit-ups on these mats, you may want another softer mat to put on top of these but it should work anyway. They have a comfortable amount of give under the ball of the foot of an 180lb man when walking across them. The texture on the top makes them fairly slip resistant. Personally, I would have preferred squared corners rather than the rounded ones for the corner of a room. The durability is alright for me as I will use these alone, but I'm not sure if I would want to put something as heavy as exercise equipment on it. All in all, for less than $30, they are a bargain compared to the other prices of mats that I have seen (and have not owned). I would buy this product again if I had to replace them.

Solid, but soft.
I bought two of these along with some I already have to put under my pool for my kids so they wouldn't smash their heads off the hard ground, or patio stones. Feels nicer under your feet when walking around in the pool, too.

Not too bad
The mats are nice, they are a bit squishier than expected, but I guess that is what you get for the price. It still does the job to protect my floor as I don't lift a lot of weight (only around 150lbs) You might want something a bit thicker and more sturdy if you are lifting a lot more weight cause it becomes dented quite easily .

Used it as a pool pad on a concrete patio.
The media could not be loaded. I am using them as a pool pad on my concrete patio. Works great!!!
