Moonlight Animals

I bought this for my 3-year old grandson, but my 5-year old grandson loved it also. They have a ton of books, but this one is such an interesting, unique book. They loved looking at the icons of the animals/bi!ds, etc. and then finding them with the flashlight. Huge hit!! Highly recommend! Have bought her other flashlight books1

My daughters (5 and 3) loved the book. They read and played with it for two days. They took a break from it for a couple days, so they are asking for the book again. I will get the other versions.

This is a brilliant book. The animals in the book are hard to see, as they're under a dark cellulose sheet covering the page,,,but wait!.. There's the end of a flashlight sticking out at the edge of the page (kind of like a pull-out tab) and Oh-My-God, if you shine the flashlight "beam" around the page all the animals light up as the beam hits them!. Wow! Fascinating for small children, brilliant idea on the part of the author. The kind of book that children will want to read over and over and over and over again. But wait, there's more! One side of the open book is all illustration, the other side is interesting text with "did you know" facts about the animals on the opposite page. Buy this book for anyone between the ages of 3 and 8, you won't regret it. Betcha that in 25 years the kid still has the book; it's a "keeper" book. The author also has a Moonlight Oceans book. We need more of these: underground animals, prehistoric, reptiles, birds, etc. I'll buy anything she writes.

I bought this book because I loved the "Moonlight Ocean" book by the same company. I am very glad I bought this book, but I do like the ocean one a lot more. The ocean version has a lot more variety of animals. It includes all sorts of sea life. This Moonlight Animals books deals mostly with animals that are out at night. So a lot of the pages include the same animals just in a different spot or doing different things. The was this book works is brilliant and I think it will be one of those books that my kids will love and remember. You learn about an animal on the left page and then you get to use a flashlight and shine it all around the right hand page to find the animals doing night time activities. Very fun for the kids and "bigger" kids. The text is interesting too and you get to learn some new facts about animals you see around. The only reason I gave this a 4 star is because of the repeats of the same animals to find from page to page. Still glad I bought it and very happy with it.

This is a fabulous gift for your child or as in my case my granddaughter. I will certainly be buying the other two in this series.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this book because I couldn't find any videos showing what it was or what it did but the reviews convinced me to get it. I am very pleased with this book. I haven't given it to my daughter yet, it is going to be a Christmas present, but I know she is going to love it. The left side of the pages are just small paragraphs on what the animals eats and how much and such and then it has some "did you know" facts followed by some good ol' can you find it game. The right side of the pages are a translucent page which has the details such as the animals and trees on it and it lies over a black page so it appears dark. Each page has a "flashlight" which is just a white "beam" in the shape of a flash light. The white paper makes the images on the translucent screen a lot more visible and so you have the flashlight effect. I've included a picture of what the flashlight looks like out of the pages and how it appears in the page. Overall, a very cute and unique book. Not much of a plot book but a lot of facts and learning opportunities in it. It seems sturdy and I'm hoping lasts through several hundred readings. Very impressed.

Super cute idea. Very sturdy and well made book. The “flashlights” can’t be removed which is good, but they can get pushed in too far and hard to get back out. I put bump dot stickers on the end of each one to prevent this.

A fun version of "I Spy". I read the facts about animals and my daughter looks for the critters.

What a delightful book. And so original. The basic idea is that on each page there are animals to discover, with info on each animal. How it works: a dark plastic sheet covers the page, with an opening for a bright flat "flashlight" one can aim by slippiing it between the plastic sheet and the image. When you "shine" the light on an animal you can see it. Great for children 3-6 years old. This book is part of a series.

Amazing book, love the concept! We have Moonlight Ocean, and I will try and collect all three of them. Even I like looking at them, and I'm an adult!

Cool concept but design/construction wasn't awesome. The two middle pages where the spine of the book is were way too wide where the "flashlight" kept feeling out of the book and the objects were difficult to fine because the pages were so spread out.
