Good winch
This winch works very well for main sheet and jib sheet on the model sailboat.

Sailwinch
Great product for 1meter sailboats. 3.5 turns is just perfect for 10-15" of travel for sail movement. I ordered two but one would continue to search for end points. Sent it back and got a refund. I will order two more to have just in case, but will test each for proper operation before I save to my spare parts box. Keep in mind that a winch drive needs special set-up conditions to operate properly. You can find some options on the Internet. I use a three level thin plywood pancake with three standoffs at each corner that surrounds the drum in case the line comes off the drum. If the line screws up just let it out all the way and wind it back in. With the three layer pancake and no pulleys or rubber band you need to keep wind pressure on the sails whenever you let the sails in or out. ==---------== Top Ring of Drum [ ] ==---------== Center Ring of Drum [ ] ==---------== First Ring of Drum [ ] ====================== Top Level of Servo Mou Get thin plywood as close to the same thickness as the drum rings and about 1/2 inch past each sides of the drum. Cut a circle out of the center of each piece of plywood.(Three pieces) Use dowel or square spline as spacers in between the corners of the plywood spacers.(Twelve pieces)

Replaced servo on dbxle. Great servo
Used on my losi dbxle v1. Tight fit into servo box but with a bit of silicone spray will slide in. Have had for about 18 months and has help up well.

This is an excellent but expensive winch servo.
This is an excellent but expensive winch servo, so it is tempting to use both drums to pull in two sails. As other reviewer notes, this can lead to problems. I am using a servo for EACH sail - One drum pulls a sail in one direction, and the other drum (wound in the opposite direction) pulls the same sail back in the opposite direction. The sail is under control at all times, even if the wind changes suddenly. I thread the cable round several pulleys under the deck to get correct geometry, and of course there is extra weight from needing 2 winches. These winch servos give incredible torque, I use these on a 51 inch long Thames Sailing Barge, displacing about 40 pounds, so for me its a perfect solution. For smaller boats this may be over-kill but there are just not many other winch servos to be found.

Great for FIRST Robotics
Purchased for our local FIRST Robotics team (FRC Team 2980). The team reports that the servos are a perfect fit for their robotics use. This year's game involves significant vibration and impacts. The servos held up well to the punishment and function as designed. HiTec servos are durable and work flawlessly in the team's application.

Set your endpoints and it is a great servo.
Great servo. Just make sure you set your endpoints as you will burn this servo out if not. It is very prone to failure at over extent.
