BOSS WL-20L Wireless Guitar System Transmitter and Receiver for Acoustic or Electric Guitar and Electronic Instruments (WL-20L)

I play out just about every weekend (I'm a bass player) with a variety of instruments, both passive and active, made in 1983 through 2023. I've used, very successfully, the Fiddlerman FWS-10 for a couple of years without having a backup / replacement wireless system, so after a lot of research I settled in on the Bose WL-20L, primarily because of the 7-hour receiver battery life, the small size of the units, and the fact that EVERYTHING is auto-magic with them, including selecting the best channel available out of 14. I know there are some guitars / devices it won't work properly with because the little button next to the 1/4" jack isn't very long and it's used to turn the unit on and off, but it works with my tuner pedal, my Fender Rumble amps, and all five of my basses. Latency is absolutely negligable, the unit operates quietly, with great tone on both active and passive basses (just a slight tinge of crispness on passive basses). Some people have said that it makes a clicking noise. I can get it to do that too, if I PUT MY PHONE RIGHT NEXT TO THE RECEIVER OR IN MY POCKET ON THE TRANSMITTER SIDE OF MY BODY (don't do that, silly)., as it will interfere with the connection with the transmitter. The other key to having a great experience with this unit is to make sure everyone else has their wireless devices on before you plug your transmitter into your receiver to have it select a channel automagically (takes 10 seconds). You have more channels available to you with your Boss unit than they do with their puny human units, so it makes sense to choose last, and the Bose unit does a great job scanning the environment and getting you a clean channel. This is a fantastic, gig-worthy wireless system which is now my #1. No tone issues. No dropouts. No latency issues. No battery life issues (wish it was replaceable, but oh well). No range issues. It just works and you don't have to worry about it at all. Yes, like a lot of Bose stuff, it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I need a reliable system to use 35-40 times a year playing out with my band, and that's exactly what I got in the Bose WL-20L.

Have been using these for quite a while now, and yes, they are excellent! First off, you should know that these are THE wireless rig to get if you're plugging in to an instrument with active pickups, especially active bass. Other systems in the price range: (Joyo, Lekato, Spark Link) may not be clear in their labelling, but will probably fail over time in an active setup. If the system doesn't specifically say it's designed for active, then it probably shouldn't be used with it. My hard-learned lesson, your free advice. Anyway, on these Boss 20L, sound is pure, and latency is very low. Overall, a good, clean link to whatever you're running for a rig.

Sound for doing musical comedy is such a challenge especially when having quick changeovers and having a sound system and sound person who isn’t familiar with instrumentation can be a real challenge. I bought this for a cabaret show so I couldn’t quickly play music on stage wirelessly. It worked great plugging directly into the PA with very minimal feedback. I won the cabaret that night! Also it was the least expensive I place I found it for.

This system will not work with an active guitar, regardless of what they say. All of the research that I had done, said for active guitars get the WL20L instead of the WL20, but it will not work. It worked good on my passive guitars.

I bought these for the long lasting battery time. And it is. Just know that when you stick them in your guitar that is where they stay. No adjustments can be made but this has not caused any problems for me.

Super easy to use. Just plug it in and off you go… no cable to get tangled up, trip over, accidentally pull out…. Missing: I don’t see any sort of battery level indicator. I didn’t know it needed charging until it just stopped working. Ooops. It would be nice if there was a swivel on the transmitter to keep it closer to the guitar body instead of sticking out so much. Still, works great and easy to use and charge.

Surprised and quite pleased at how well this wireless system functions. Unbeatable range, even around concrete walls in different rooms! No recognized latency, and both volume and tone appear unaffected. Unbeatable value with typical Boss build quality and durability. Highly recommend!!

Built really well!! Super easy to use!! There is static with little pops that build up like crazy for looping. The WL20Ls also shut off a few times randomly. Twisting them around changes the static pops but does not clear it. Tested on multiple instruments. Martin DC-16RGTE and a Taylor T5ZCK. Super bummed!! I thought Boss would be better than the cheaper options here on the Zon! I would have preferred supporting Boss!!! They typically make fantastic stuff. Returning these!!!!

I found these truly terrible. They did not work reliably with a Fender Acoustasonic without a cumbersome workaround. I have therefore returned them.

This is a really compact wireless audio system for any sort of regular line-out instruments, like synth keyboards or the Aerophone AE-10, which is what I'm using it for. It really couldn't be more easy to use. Charges via standard USB power source via USB-C cable, supplied. Just plug the transmitter into the receiver for both charging and quick pairing. It automatically selects best interference-free channel for transmission. So far I haven't experienced any distortion, drop-outs or RF interference, just solid wireless transmission without any noticeable degradation of sound quality or latency issues. It really does seem to work just as well as a cable. I'm very pleased with this system. I tried another less expensive one but found it had too much distortion on louder settings. This one doesn't distort even at very high volume settings. The battery gives you plenty of time for long gigs and rehearsals. I definitely would recommend this system -- and already have to a few other musician friends.

Works fine in reversal space but cuts in and out at any gig I’ve played so far. End up having to hardwire in. Horrible product!

Very practical and once charged they last a long time!

Little pricey, solid-built, low latency(2.8ms), long-lasting battery, good sound quality, overall worth buying. Signal drop out is unavoidable when you selected wireless product, but cable humming is much worth on stage. The way that this product dealing with interference is smart, unlike other digital wireless stuff, the signal won't disappear entirely, it will still have sound but only the quality being affected a little. Once you configure the device(put the transmitter insert into the receiver jack), it will has less chance to interference with other device. In my studio, the only time I encountered drop out is when I move closer to the wifi router, other time no drop out at all.
