Recreational Therapy for Specific Diagnoses and Conditions

This book provides a foundation of important information for therapists who are seeking understanding about areas for assessment and intervention for individuals with specific conditions. I really appreciated the inclusion of the ICF codes I would have liked to have seen recommendations of specific assessment tools for possible use for each of the diagnoses and/or conditions. I like the fact that various experts were recruited to author chapters of the book. This will be a go to book should I need specific information about a particular condition.

I think this an excellent resource for recreational therapist. There are small errors and I had some issues with the biases of the author of some of the chapters. For example, at times the chapters focused on the treatment with medications by a dr. and not natural interventions that could be utilized by an RT or other allied professionals.

As a recreational therapy student this book is a must have for learning about all the different diseases and disabilities! Would reccomend buying it to keep and using it to study for the national exam!
