A great way to introduce you shooters to the fun of crossbows. 29 lb. draw weight is ideal for training young shooters. Rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Includes two 16" aluminum bolts. Review: Parts are NOT installed backwards-Just takes a little work to wear in. - I was concerned at all the reviews that the latch mechanism was installed backwards, but kids have been doing archery in the shop this winter and having a blast, we wanted to add a crossbow into the fun. Upon inspection it was very hard to cock and might appear as if it was assembled wrong. In fact, first few times I played with that latch mechanism using a pocket screwdriver to simulate the string I had to pull the trigger to get it get past the latch. After working it a handful of times it seems to have smoothed out nicely, and it can be cocked with a quick bump with the string. What others have said about lubing it and working it to smooth it out seems to be exactly correct. Other than that small issue, it seems to be of decent quality, respectable power for kids to shoot at an archery target. Length of pull on the stock is closer to adult size and it has decent weight/feel associated with it. Review: Great Kids crossbow - Solid little crossbow to get the youngest of shooters interested and practicing. My 5 yr old handles it very well and can almost cock it by himself, he is learning the techniques and safety of shooting. We upgraded to carbon arrows and 75 grain field points and it shoots very well to about 20-25 yds.

Good for a 9 year old. Latch is a pain
There were a lot of reviews that stated the latch that holds the string was installed wrong. This wasn't the case with mine. Easy to assemble. Sighting in was pretty easy. Since I was able to hit the target accurately and consistently at 20 feet, I'm going to say it was my niece and not the crossbow that made it inaccurate. The string is easy for her to pull back but getting it past the latch is very difficult. I will try using some oil to hopefully make it operate smoother. If not, hopefully with use it will ease. That's really the only down side that I've come across. I cock it, she shoots it. She loves it. To me that's the most important thing. It's not powerful enough to shoot distance, but it's a great starting crossbow. Light enough for her to hold steady but not flimsy or toy like. The bolts that come with it are pretty strong. She put one halfway through the shed wall backstop, 3/4" thick plywood, and there was no damage to the bolt. While it is not powerful, it is still a weapon and can kill or injure if used improperly. No matter what else you feel about this crossbow, SAFETY is the most important thing.

Upon close inspection the crossbow is assembled correctly after all...Great Buy!
Upon close inspection the crossbow is assembled correctly after all...Great Buy! It would appear that the release mechanism is assembled wrongly and many comments attest to that fact because it seems impossible to cock it. The reality is that it is assembled the right way and the problem is a super tough spring which makes it almost impossible to move the release into coking position. Just take a screwdriver and ram it as you would the rope into the release and voila, it works! The solution: Just add some oil to the release mechanism and use a screwdriver to cock and fire the mechanism repeatedly until it softens. Cock it, press the trigger, repeat several times. Now I can pull the rope as one should and everything is perfect. Great crossbow for youngsters! Please follow the same safety guidelines you would follow in the use of any weapon and always supervise youngsters while this crossbow is in use.

Awesome!!
Great bow for big kids. Too bad you don't get more than 2 bows.

Fair product.
It's ok. works well, but obviously a "toy". Don't get me wrong, it's still dangerous and needs adult supervision, but it isn't very accurate, so not a very good tool to introduce youngsters to the sport.

Nice
I bought this for my grandson but it definitely is to hard to handle for an 8 year old. I hung on his wall until he is old enough. He can't wait to go to the woods!!!!!

Decent starter crossbow
Seems like a good starter crossbow for my kids. Not very powerful but I think that is good at this stage. The arrows that come with it are cheap and dull so buy others to go with it
