Another Paleo book... Fortunately this one delivers!!!
Although Paleo is presently all the rage and there are books a plenty on the topic I have managed, up until now at least, to avoid learning too much about it. I typically wait for the hype to die down then look at what is still standing. After reading Gina's book I have no doubt that this will be one of those books.I am a particularly practical type of person and therefore don't care too much for uneducated opinion and/or people who claim that 'this is the way' just because they did it. What I like is factual, well researched information that will stand up to scrutiny. This is exactly what I got in 'Paleo for Beginners'. In fact I'm glad I chose this book to learn from, as not only did Gina present the information in a logical sequence but the information she provided was indeed factual and straight to the point. You see as well as being practical I also consider myself efficient. Therefore I loved the fact that Gina wrote this book in a no nonsense style, providing the reader with what they need to know about Paleo and no more.Specific parts of the book that stood out for me included… The whole of chapter 3 in particular the inclusion of the ‘Paleo for kids’ (father of two girls). The whole of chapter 4. I really appreciated the comparison between other diets or ways of eating as I have been, in the past at least, and Aitkins dieter. The ‘crunchy chicken’ and ‘kale chips’ recipes in chapter 5, which I've tried, and loved. And as I’m a work traveler the tips for Paleo and travel in chapter 6 were just what I needed to get my s*** together and stop eating convenience food at airports and hotels.Great resource. Thanks Gina

Paleo, Carbs, Glycemic Indeces, what now?
I've never done the Atkins Diet, though a neighbor did, while I was doing 40-30-30. She ended up taking it to extremes for a couple years, and messing up her metabolism for the rest of her life. While I had good success with the 40-30-30 diet, my husband hated the limitations on all the foods he liked. He couldn't stick it, though he tried, valiantly. He found a book on the Paleo Diet and went wild: bacon and fried apples for breakfast, fried chicken (without breading) for lunch, shrimp and greens for supper. He was one happy dieter. Until the limits on carbs had him sneaking bags of chips. Big ones! This book is more my style. There's more variety in the recipes. It's well presented. And while I don't think paleo is for me, entirely, it may be for you. If not, there are still some interesting recipes to try. This is one of the best books on paleo cooking I've seen. It assumes you want to try the diet, but does not preach about it. It also caters to Americans' yen for variety. We have a variety of foods available. Why not make that work?

★ PALEO LIFESTYLE EXPLAINED ★ PLUS SOME YUMMY RECIPES ★
The Paleo diet is basically based on the consumption of plants and animals that were eaten in the Prehistoric or Paleolithic period. The author, Gina Crawford, has compiled a very well put together 100 page book of nearly every aspect of the Paleo diet, from conception to recipes. The Paleo lifestyle is explained. I prefer to call it a lifestyle, as the word diet confers more of a temporary state. This is a lifelong process, not something temporary. For optimum health, you need to adapt to this way of eating. This book entails several easy, delicious recipes. The Paleo Diet is commonly referred to as the Caveman Diet. Ever wonder why early man didn't actually suffer from a lot of our modern ailments? Many of our modern diseases are manmade through the consumption of overly processed manmade foods and grains. Learn what does and doesn't really feed your body. A calorie is a calorie is a calorie? WRONG!!! Food matters. Food can heal you or it can mess you up. You choose. This book contains information for beginner or more advanced Paleo follower, in that it may contain some information you didn't know and certainly has some waist friendly recipes you'll probably like. I recommend this book, not just for all the valuable information, but for the simple to prepare recipes included, as well. Thank you for reading my review.

Good, but not consistent
Easy to read and understand for a newbie. However, in the first few pages it tells you not to eat salt, but there is salt in almost every recipe. Also, specifications should be noted for any Paleo committed, Mayo should be organic or preferably homemade. Store bought is loaded with chemicals for prolonged shelf life.

Well Research Information
The Paleo Diet is a hot topic. As a healthcare practitioner and health fanatic for more than forty years, I find the information helpful and well researched. I especially like how the author speaks to specific conditions and age groups as well as other fad programs, offering readers a chance to make wise choices based on fact not emotions. My only criticism lies in the recipes. I would not use any of the sweeteners, most especially agave, recommended. Besides, the whole point to reducing carbs is eliminating the sweeteners that drive blood sugar. Once on this lifestyle eating well becomes so natural that sweeteners are not longer appealing and definitely not tempting.I have been eating this way for years. Having thrived following to Traumatic Brain Injuries I can totally atest tot he fact that his way of eating leads to better brain health which, of course. creates better overall well being.I recommend this book to people wanting to understand the Paleo Diet and why switching to it will only improve their health.

Paleo for Beginners - a well written guide
The author carefully explains the historical background to the Paleo diet (also known as the caveman diet), the philosophy guiding the food choices and allowed combinations, the many benefits as well as a complete 7-day meal plan. The book is well researched, and provided me with just the right level and volume of information for me to get started with the Paleo diet. So far, I have tried out two of the recipes (Fancy Chicken Salad, and Avocado and Bacon Omelet), which I can honestly say were a) easy to make and b) very tasty - just as promised on the cover.Would have loved to see a few more pictures of the lovely food in the book. The book is well edited and structured, it does not contain grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. The language is jargon free and easy to understand by anyone. In short, Paleo for Beginners is a well written, tasty and informative guide for those who want to know more and who may want to try out the Paleo diet for the first time.

informative and easy to read
Great little book for those just starting out on Paleo. Love the breakfast suggestions and recipes. Also the meal plan was very handy. Great for busy people who want to get started before they have had a chance to build up a repertoire of recipes. I really enjoyed it. Had just watched "Cereal Killers" movie and noticed some of the Australian cricket team were eating a similar way so was curious as to practicalities of applying this especially wanting recipes that use easily accessible ingredients and do not take too much pre preparation. Really pleased with my purchase.

Great quick guide
Simple and straightforward guide to the paleo lifestyle. Some nice recipes included which won't break the bank and don't require you to have the culinary skills of nigella Lawson .
