Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: By far the best global survey of architecture yet written - I'm reviewing it here because people's concerns about slipcases and postage are at the time of writing resulting in a low star rating for a book that is extraordinarily impressive and valuable. I write as a historian of architecture myself, and my admiration for the scope and achievement of this book is huge. The exercise of writing global history is deeply challenging, largely because of the sheer amount of world and history there are, but also because some areas have received enormously less attention from scholars than others. This book is a really important step in the process of making the best knowledge about every continent's architecture in every period available in one place. It's written clearly and heavily and relevantly illustrated. It opens up huge amounts of specialist knowledge to students and a wider public. It's very expensive, but worth every penny if you can afford it. If not, make sure your local or institutional library have it. Review: Bought it for an old architectural student, who gave away the Fletcher book he had studied. It was very much appreciated!

Great Books. Horrible Shipping. The Books came in a box that looked like it crossed the Atlantic on its own. Then was dropped 8 times. The book corners were damaged.

I ordered the slipcase edition of this beautiful work. It came without a slipcase. Therefore it is devoid of an important protective case. The item, although a product of distinguished English scholars was sent to me from India. It seems that Amazon does not care about accuracy of its advertising It is the second time I have been disappointed in Amazon Prime. I shall probably order no more.

The books themselves are magnificent, and are well worth the price, which was higher than I would have expected. However, it is advertised as having a slipcase, which in view of the weight and the price is fully warranted. This was not provided, and in fact three of the corners were slightly bumped. This detracts from the book and frankly constitutes false advertising which should certainly be corrected or at least warrants a price discount.

You might think an expensive set like this would come with a slipcase. You might think, after reading the ad for this expensive set of books, a slipcase would accompany your order. You (and I) would be wrong.
