FEL-PRO 72949 Oil Filter Adapter Gasket

Fit perfect on 2005 mercury Mariner 2.3l, no leaks!

I needed to fix a leak on the oil cooler and in pulling off the filter bracket, you'll likely need one of these. I used silicon last time and that was fine for the housing, but I wanted to replace it with an actual gasket. This seems to be working fine after nearly a whole month. FYI, this gasket goes on one way so just align it with the shape of the openings and you'll be fine. You will not need silicon, just this gasket. Also plan ahead and buy some break cleaner to remove any old oil. You want this super clean and smooth. If you have nicks, you may need to use Bondo but only if they are actual deep nicks, not fine light abrasions, i.e. from some fine grit sandpaper (like 120), which I used to remove some patches of old silicon.

Needed this to transfer the oil filter housing from my old engine to my new one. Fit like OEM and no leaks.

This fit my brother's 2006 Mazda Tribute perfectly. Over 200,000 miles and it started a very minor leak. Did this and the oil cooler gasket at the same time. I recommend you do the same. No reason to climb under there twice, especially since you'll have to drain all the oil. So, don't forget to buy the new oil before you start. There was barely nothing left of the old gaskets; hard, brittle, and deteriorated. This FEL-PRO is definitely the way to go. I also bought the FEL-PRO oil cooler gasket at the same time.

Replaced original crush washer with this one. Works great on my Mazda 5 2007. If you're doing the job I highly recommend assembly grease.
