My dog constantly gets matted fur no matter how much I comb her. She has had a history of deep matts when I have to cut them out close to the skin and I hate doing that. This new mat furr comb helps me break up matts! I first try brushing her as normal and then I use this comb on the ends and work my way down towards the bigger mats. It’s a good sturdy grip for the handle and the results give my dog a better overall fluffy coat. Those deep mats had her looking rough. I’m so happy!

I got the narrow version of the mat splitter. I have a short haired cat who develops serious mats overnight (it seems) - I just started using this a few days ago, and it's been great to gently loosen up mats on both sides of the clump as well as to do everyday grooming in a non tugging way. Then I go in with a larger brush to draw out the remaining clumps. It takes some time but it's much less disturbing to my little guy. My only suggestion would be to offer the narrow mat splitter in two designs - the original and also one where the blades are curved in the opposite direction. Right now, I can do one side of his body easily, but not the other . I find it's easier to avoid being scratched if my arm isn't extended across their body in order to orient the blades the right way!

I like this tool because it’s easy to use and ergonomic (even my little hands hold it comfortably!), but it isn’t sharp enough. I have a border collie x poodle mix that hates being brushed but whose fur mats easily, so I was hoping this would be more useful for dematting. Unfortunately, it’s not the tool for me because it pulls her fur too much like a brush does, instead of easily removing mats. So I have to feed her training treats the entire time and have my husband try to hold her. It may work well for you if your dog is patient and willing to sit still for longer!

Works great, still pulls the hair a good bit so if it’s a bad matting situation then it might need to be done in stages.

Teeth are not sharp so it just ends up pulling hair. Not very effective.

Literally the best comb/dematter I have ever used. I have 2 doodles with wavy/curly hair that always get matted after hikes. I’ve used every other popular comb, but this is by far the best. Painless and quickly demats. No complaints. Just amazing.

It works well as a comb and takes off lots of hair! Doesn’t always work on matted hair.

My eight-pound Shitzpoo has poodle fur that resists any attempt to comb. I was able to comb through all four legs and parts of his body in a couple of hours--I have never been able to do this before. Develop a technique to comb a small section at a time and you will get through a thick coat that you could never do before. Gizmo and I have "trip and treat" sessions, and he got a lot of treats. I am delighted to use this product. I will be able to complete his grooming and have him look like he went to the groomer. Great, great, great. I am so pleased with the performance of this comb.

Great for matt's. My cat has the worst fur and this is helping so much

This is just essentially fish hooks that grab the undercoat and pull it away. Removing deep and thick knots from a cats coat did not work as well as just cutting the fur off...in fact it pulled at the cats skin and did not slice away at the knot at all. It's good for loosening, good for undercoat thinning, but don't expect it to get the knots out..not unless you sharpen the blades to be nuclear sharp(which you can't because of their position).

I have a 14 month Bearded Collie. His coat is transitioning from puppy to adult and the amount of hair is crazy. This tool has been amazing for taking care of matts. You do need to be care with it as it's sharp but it really seems to work on the tough bit. If you have a hairy dog then this is worth having.

This product worked excellent for my golden doodle her coat mats very easily ,it is a great tool and priced great as well.I would highly recommend it.
