Although a little more expensive than others I've seen for sale on Amazon, I ended up purchasing this blower kit after reaching out to the company directly to ensure it would work with my fireplace. The company responded immediately and easily answered all my questions. The fan itself seems well constructed, it was nearly fully assembled and all that was needed was to connect the ground wire with the provided screw, and then connect the other two wires (black and white), which have fittings on the end. The only tool I needed was a Phillip's head screwdriver, and installation took no more than 10-15 minutes and the blower works as advertised.

Installation was relatively simple, and the instructions were decent. It works, but I didn’t know what to expect for heat output. Because my wife didn’t want me to drill into our fireplace panel to mount the knob (so it is hidden inside the cavity), I had to set the dial to what I thought would be a good speed setting. We started with it at half. It worked pretty well and did push the heat out. We sit about 8 feet from the fireplace and could tell a difference in the room comfort (though we didn’t feel the heat coming directly onto us). But the blower seemed somewhat loud while trying to watch TV. I eventually turned the dial down a bit, but we still have some noise (not as loud), but don’t really notice the heat dissipation as much). I’m afraid if I turned the speed to the max it would be too loud to have on while watching TV. I’ll probably make the knob more accessible next year so I can play with the settings a bit more. I was also hoping this would magically connect with my remote control to control the settings…wishful thinking. Lol.

Like many houses, ours had a decorative gas fireplace - pretty but doesn't put out much heat. My neighbor mentioned he had bought one of these because the one that had been in his house when he bought it went out. He raved about it and even gave me the printout of the Amazon site when I mentioned I might like to get one. It is like night and day when you have one of these - your fireplace is no longer decorative, but functional. It puts out heat very well; we don't have the fan turned up all the way and that is fine. It does give off a little hum, but that is to be expected when you have a fan running. Nothing too distracting. My neighbor even came over to install it for me as I have some vision issues that keep me from seeing up close very well. It took him a little longer than his installation as my fireplace wasn't exactly the same as his, but still wasn't too bad. Note- I also recommend buying the remote control to control the flame on/off as you like. It's really handy. we bought the Skytech 9800329 SKY-1410TH Fireplace Remote Control with Thermostat.

Our gas fireplace was nice to look at but produced no heat for our den. On the advice of our neighbor we ordered this for our fireplace and couldn’t be happier. My 70+ year old husband was able to install it, basically just plugged into the outlet under the actual gas logs. It gives off enough heat on those cold days to heat the den and the kitchen area.
