Review: A fantastic story to read - I still can’t believe that I have waited so long to read this book. Actually, I do believe it because I wanted the DUO to get complete before diving into this world firsthand. I have heard a lot of good things about the book when it came out and I wanted to read it immediately but I try to avoid any cliffhangers if I can and that I did here. Now I am like “WOW” what a story. Harper never ceases to amaze me with her twists in any world she created and this one was quite a TALE. She nailed it with a hidden witch and a Coven with all the questionable things happening and then there are Vessel’s (you have to read to find out what it means) with demons involved in it and mysterious PROPHECY at work. It flows so smoothly once you start reading the book. For a few moments I was SPEECHLESS with the ending the book gave me. I think I was in SHOCK because I didn’t think things will happen the way they happened, like last 4-5 chapters were just FREAKING MIND BLOWING. The story kept me glued to my Kindle the entire day I was reading it and it’s WORTH IT. “Kudos” to the writing, it just melts like butter and leaves a yummy taste when finished. I have a lot of things to say but I would like for you all to read the book and experience the journey yourself. “Willow” is so smart, kind, and lovable and the growth her character shows is so promising. “Gray’s” possessiveness from the start was so HOT and mouth-watering. He was so mysterious and then there is still so much left to unveil in the story and I am excited to dive into book two as fast as I can. Review: it’s a dark witchy read - The book is spicy and it’s a dark witchy read with hidden identity. Willow is a witch trained by her father. Her father wants revenge while she wants to protect those whom she love. The book has dark academia vibe with enemies to lovers trope and morally grey MMC. The chemistry between FMC and MMC seems to be good.

it’s a dark witchy read

OMG.
Im shocked. The ending shocked me. It was quite slow paced in the Beginning but as it went further and answers were answered it became thrilling and exciting. The author said even the villain deserved HEA and i thought how could Gray be the villain. I fell in love with him. But as the story progressed my jaw was literally on the floor! What an expected thing to happen. I was as shocked as Willow. Can't wait for the second book! I don't know how the author will redeem Gray but I'm willing to seee it

Messy Magic, Betrayals & Morally Grey Men!!!
If you grew up loving shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, or Shadow and Bone, this book will probably hit the same chaotic supernatural sweet spot. The Coven follows Willow, a witch determined to avenge her aunt, protect her stepbrother, and unlock powerful ancestral magic. She comes from two powerful bloodlines, which makes her situation even more complicated — and dangerous. What I liked most was Willow herself. She actually feels like a witch: stubborn, morally complicated, fiercely loyal, and willing to make difficult choices for the people she loves. She isn’t passive or naïve, which made her really engaging to follow. Grey was another standout. For most of the book he plays the calm, controlled headmaster who claims to be helping Willow. But as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that things are far more complicated than they seem, and that reveal completely shifts how you see their dynamic. The world-building was also a highlight. Instead of just a simple magic school setting, the story introduces witches, demons, vampires, archangels, and complex power struggles between different factions. It creates a darker, more layered supernatural world. The pacing is incredibly bingeable — I finished it in one sitting. That said, the plot isn’t perfect. Some moments repeat, and the university setting could have been explored more. Still, the betrayals, twists, and supernatural drama kept me fully invested. If you enjoy dark academia with messy magic, morally grey characters, and high-stakes supernatural politics, this one is definitely worth picking up. And with the sequel already out, I’m excited to see where the story goes next. 🩸✨

The beginning of fantastical journey
This review is going to be me fan girling. Combining both genres of fantasy and dark characters and giving us a fantastic book on magic, lore and plot twist to delve into, I can proudly say i skipped my sleep reading this and let me tell you it takes a lot for me to skip sleep in this old age. 🤣 Now, this book definitely has witches(duh) but also it has plot and honestly I would read this book even if it had no spicy scenes The middle of the book was plot filler but the last 30% had me gripping and miss Woods, the ending has me screaming. I can't wait for August to come early af so i can get myself drowned in this beautiful world of magic and prophecies

Irrational and too hasty
This book felt very toxic. Like not a single part of this book mentioned a healthy relationship including the main characters. We begin with Gray being asked to restart the school to him trying to recruit Willow to claiming her. Then suddenly she has to seduce. The MMC just barges into her room tears her clothes and it's all ok because she lusts after him. Seriously???? And what was that scene about him changing her clothes without her permission or knowledge. It put me off this character right then and there. And this is in the beginning. There were hardly any side characters and maybe together they may have had 15 dialogues in the whole book. The leads had no chemistry and even the consummation scene seemed forced and not aesthetic at all. I know the cliffhanger is supposed to make us excited but the plot seems done and used before. I give this book 1 star

🥀
I’m not really surprised at this point, because whenever I think that Forrest’s/Woods couldn’t be surprising me anymore, they just came through with so much light and darkness. And wow, this book was just it and so much more. Fantasy is one of my favourite genres, especially dark and adult fantasy and this book is absolutely incredible. The themes of control, the scheming, plotting, mystery, magic and romance; literally everything was top notch and has had me hooked since the very beginning. I loved the word building and the writing style. It was simple yet compelling. But more than that I loved the voice of the heroine, their quick wit and sharp mind. However, Woods deserves quite a lot of commotion for the the world that she’s created, intricately which is filled with twisty web of lies, cons, and heists; to create a plot that undoubtedly keeps one guessing until the very end. But that cliffhanger, was lethal. I am in shambles and I can’t wait enough for the next book.
