Fishing Magnet, 160 Kg (353 LB) Pull Force N35 Super Strong Powerful Round Neodymium Magnet for River Retrieval

After getting the magnet out of the box and trying it on various things around the house I must admit I was pretty disappointed , it didn’t seem that strong, more like a 3kg pull rather than a 300kg one. I took it into the garage and my whole opinion changed. I attached it to a steel girder and it was so difficult to remove. Intrigued, I decided to test its true pulling power. Firstly I tried it on a sanding station weighing around 20lb, no problem. Then a workmate XL around 40lb still no problem. Back to the girder, I set up a little rig using a tow rope and one of my own “snap karabiner “. It wouldn’t take my weight ( I weigh 16.5-17st) but it very nearly did. My 14yr old son was swinging around on it no problem. I left the garage pretty impressed. There are some negatives though! I purchased the kit for a little extra. The karabiner supplied in the kit is very cheap and of poor quality, as is the rope and the gloves. If I was to purchase it again I would probably just buy the magnet & get a better quality rope and Karabiner from somewhere else for a couple of quid more. I would also buy a grappling hook.. Overall though it’s a great starter magnet for my son to start his new hobby.

Pretty powerful magnets.....small but well made and strong.

When I ordered this I was concerned with the thought of it holding on for 580kg’s worth as sometimes you end up getting the magnet onto metal bridges or fences. If it was truly 580kg I’m not sure how you would free it from there!? It is strong though and getting a 2p coin off is a challenge. Saw other reviews saying the eye can unscrew after a few throws so I used 2 part adhesive to glue the length of the bolt and the washers and tightened it with a screwdriver and pliers and left it to harden overnight and it hasn’t budged at all and I’ve been out 3 or 4 times. This magnet wasn’t cheap so to avoid losing it I recommend glueing the bolts and washers, use a strong rope, look up proper knots for magnet fishing knots on YouTube and duck tape the ‘eye’ closed to avoid snagging on rebar or other underwater debris. So far I’ve found coins, fishing tackle, very old nails and spikes and I’m looking forward to going out again soon!

Be careful - this is a STRONG magnet, tried it on a radiator and could hardly get it off! Brilliant!

It's a really nice low cost kit, delivered quickly and nice quality. Attempted to recover a drone from the bottom of a lake with it. It doesn't have much holding power on smaller objects but on larger metal surfaces you'll have a job to remove it

Not sure if it would pick up 160kg, but it was good enough to easily find 300 nails which fell off my roof into the grass. Quite powerful, but I'd suggest something stronger for magnet fishing in a canal.

For its compact size this is a nice magnet. I use it on my boat in case a tool or key goes overboard
