I installed it on an MSI X870 Tomahawk with 192GB of DDR5 at 6000MHz, and it’s an absolute beast. The performance is phenomenal both in gaming and heavy workloads — everything runs incredibly smooth and fast. Temperatures stay well under control, stability is rock solid, and efficiency is outstanding. Paired with a strong GPU, this CPU easily crushes anything I’ve used before. The perfect CPU for a monster PC. Pros: - Gaming performance is nearly identical to the gaming-specific 9800x3D. - Productivity workloads about 75% faster than the 9800x3D on average. - PBO works extremely well. +200 is absolutely no problem for this chip. - Even in certain gaming scenarios unrelated to actual gameplay, there is a noticeable uplift. (e.g. shader builds) Cons: - This CPU is not cheap. If you don't have too many productivity workloads and strictly use for casual workloads, web browsing and heavy gaming, go with the 9800x3D for $250 less. - This CPU runs hot. Compared to the 9800x3D which ran comparatively cool, this CPU idles around 49-53C, and under full load, can reach as hot as 78C on a 360mm AIO (Liquid Freezer III). Gaming temps are very reasonable around 60-65C. - This CPU consumes more power than the 9800x3D. Under full load, I've seen power consumption in excess of 240W for spikes, and draws 40-45W even when idle, compared to the 9800x3D which drew 145W with PBO OC under load and 20-25W idling. Even though it consumes a ton of power, it still consumes far less than the 14-series high-end Intel chips with superior gaming performance to boot. Intel does still hold a slight edge when it comes to productivity workloads at a slightly lower price. For those who are building a monster PC that will be used for gaming and productivity, there is no other AMD choice (other than the 9800x3D).

Top of the line CPU. For work and play provides stable and reliable performance. This CPU has the top of the line AMD Zen5 CCDs reaching the maximum frequency available for this generation. I also have the standard 9950X and that CPU has one "good" CCD @5.7 GHz and one "bad" CCD that only reaches 5.4 Ghz stable. The 9950X3D provides two good CCDs the 3D Cached one reaches 5.6 Ghz stock and the non 3D, 5.7 stock + 0.2 Ghz on PBO. It also can be safely (100% stable) undervolted by 15mV on both CCDs (maybe more if if you tune each CCD separately). The only downside of this CPUs is that you can't reach good memory frequency if you are using 4 Dimms. Thus for intensive work that uses lot of memory this will be a small bottleneck. Maximum stable speed I was able to reach on an ASUS Strix X870E board was 5.6 MT/s with 4 Dimms even after tunning the impedances and voltages. Beware not use more than 1.2 V of VSoC as that is the maximum safe voltage for this CPU. You can eventualy reach more memory frequency with a higher VSoC but that will accelerate CPU degradation so, I don't recommend doing it. The CPU supports a maximum of 256GB of RAM (4x64 GB DIMMs) but be advided that is only provides 2 memory channels so, that might bottleneck your performance. For a better workstation you should get a Threadripper with 4 or 8 memory channels if your budget allow it.

Best CPU ever. Upgrading from the i9-10980xe and the performance and thermals are night and day. Installing is easy if you know what you're doing. Does anything you reasonably want it to. Gaming and productivity are unmatched at this level of computing power, only being surpassed by threadripper cpus which are like 5x the cost of this one if not more. Basically, as of 2026, if you want the best cpu for a max effort machine that doesnt use threadripper, use this. Well worth every penny.

14700KFからの乗り換えです。こいつに組み合わせたのはDDR5 6000 CL30メモリー。 14700で感じた4kゲームプレイ（主にワイルズ）の瞬間的な引っ掛かり（ギミック発動時）がなくなり快適です。 しかし古いタイトルのベンチマーク（FF14）では14700KFとDDR4 3600 CL18のほうがスコアが高かったです。 購入時は最安のものではなく自社で保証をつけているところを選ぶことをお勧めします。基本的に並行輸入品だと思ってください。

Reason of purchase: no compromises. Outcome: It delivered and then some. AAA games, heavy productivity apps, everything is flying at the speed of light. Compared with Ryzen 5 3600 - the upgrade is well worth the price. 3D V-Cache really helps with gaming side of things - make sure to update chipset. That guarantees the right cores are put to work where needed. Cooling with AIO does the job. No breakfast cooking here.

Playing at 1080p sure, at 4k there is no difference between this and my 14600k.
