My trainer recommended these for my hair as I love to wear it in a bun. It is great for going out etc. If you are putting your hair up for a high impact activity (gymnastics, cheer, figure skating) they are not really designed to hold to that level. I still have to sew my bun in place (competitive figure skater) but I absolutely love these pins for my non-skating looks. They work so much better than regular bobby pins and my buns come out gorgeous. The best part, no more pins digging into your scalp!

Flocked hair pins are comfortable and hold well until they lose their “flocking”. I wish there was a way to keep them in good condition for a longer period of time.

So these are a little different that regular pins; they are coated with a velvet-like texture and that is what creates grip and keeps the hair in place which is better than the regular pins, because all-metal ones grip hair by pulling instead. I really prefer these; because they have this coating the hair doesn't have to be tight or pull in places. They are really nice, highly recommend!

My daughter has very long thick hair that makes huge buns for dance. These are a bit long and can poke out.
