Is this matcha ceremonial or culinary?

It doesn't actually say "ceremonial" on the canister that it comes in, but the company sells a "Reserve Matcha" and a "Culinary Matcha". Since this one is the "Reserve Matcha" I would say it leans towards ceremonial matcha. You might want to contact the company directly for your answer. I have tried DoMatcha and I am wondering if this tastes any different than the DoMatcha?

I drank DoMatcha for quite some time. It is a very high quality matcha. I actually like Taste of Kyoto a little more than DoMatcha. Its taste is slightly greener and less umami, which I prefer, the kick is just as pleasant, and the price is a little better. Both are very high quality matchas, but for now I prefer Taste of Kyoto. I personally like the packaging. I'm very happy the matcha is packed in a little foil bag to ensure freshness. I dislike matcha that is just thrown into the can. I think it's sloppy and gets stale faster. This is great matcha. I'm happy to have found it.

Does anyone know if the leaves used are first-flush? I checked their website, but it doesn't specify.

My research has shown that this is the highest grade available and picked in the summer. Because of the warmth and sunlight, tge quality is improved at this time of year. As far as “first flush”, who knows? I have not researched as to how many times it is picked but the summer lasts for awhile.
