This is Middle-Eastern quality certified
You guys, I have lived most of my life in the Middle-East where Za'atar originated from and is a staple food for breakfast and dinner. Here's the thing, though. I really NEVER liked it growing up, and, sure, I carried some authentic Za'atar with me to the US every time I visited but it pretty much just sat there, unused for years. I tried so many different brands because it was something I would eat when I am feeling nostalgic, but I never really got into it. Well, folks, that was BEFORE I stumbled upon Ziyad Green Za'atar. I cannot tell you just how good this brand is! It tastes great and fresh with a perfect balance of thyme and spices and sesame seeds. I don't just like it, I crave it! I have it almost every day. It's the only brand I have eaten in the past couple of years, and I prefer it over stuff I get from the Middle East, that's how good it is! Two thumbs up! I realized when I ordered yet again this week that I never really left a review, and, boy, is it worth a great one! I highly recommend it! For anyone who doesn't know how this is "prepared", you just drizzle some olive oil on a slice of pita bread, and add the za'atar, and you'll have a nice tasty sandwich! or you can pour olive oil in a bowl, za'atar in another, and dip a small piece of pita bread into the oil then the za'atar., which is how it is usually done in family breakfasts or dinners. Alternatively, you can mix the za'atar and olive oil in a small bowl, then top a pizza dough (or really any dough! I use croissant dough oftentimes!) and bake that, and you'll get what's called a man'oosheh. These are the most common ways, but you can also add it to your eggs or avocado toast or cooking. It's quite versatile and it's pretty nutritious and I always enjoy watching my Za'atar naive friends taste it for the first time because they always love it! Can't recommend this za'atar enough!

Best Zatar!
I have tried a few different brands and this is my favorite...its not easy to find really good "green" based Zatar...it is truly authentic and I love that it is from Jordan.

No flavor.
The spice I received had a pull date in April 2026. It had absolutely no flavor beyond perhaps dry sticks. Very disappointing as I gave it as a gift for Christmas.

Great flavor!
This is my second purchase of this particular brand of za’atar. I’ve tried others, but this one provides the flavor I want in my recipes calling for this spice. It smells good and tastes great. I don’t think I can buy another brand, as I’m apparently hooked on this one.

Good overall
I have got this kind of spice from Dubai and wanted to get more, because it’s a perfect addition to salads. Although this one did not taste exactly the same, still it’s good and I would recommend trying it. Especially great value for price.

The real deal
4.5 but it’s not an option…however, given the quantity and price, 5 stars is very fair. I’ve tried so many (54 y.o. and was raised eating zaatar) and this one is second place, by a small fraction, IMO (and personal taste could easily make this a fraction better than Tyme Foods‘ brand), but the price and size can NOT be beat, which it’s why I’ve been regularly purchasing Ziyad’s. It’s a staple in my home. Pair it with a quality olive oil and you’ll be very happy.

Delicious!
I tried this on sourdough as I had no pita. 1/4 tsp sprinkled over each slice, olive oil drizzled lightly but enough to cover (1/4 tsp, as the directions say to use, is not enough), 5-7 minutes in a 350F oven. Where was this all my life!?
