Great for record albums as well as books!
Excellent large, heavy-gauge, powder-coated steel bookends that are big enough to work quite well for a shelf full of record albums as well (which is what I use them for). They're pretty utilitarian-looking, but most of what I could find online at Amazon and elsewhere were considerably smaller, like 7" or so, and thinner. These were the only ones that looked like they could do a good job for records -- and they have. They've got slip-resistant pads on the base, so you don't scratch up your shelves and they don't move when in place.

Perfect!
Very nice!! These large bookends are tall, and extremely nice and heavy- perfect solution to keep my vinyl records safely contained. I also like the simple and unobtrusive design. Would also work well for large books or photo albums. You can't go wrong with these.

Comparing 8 in vs. 6 in. Functional & Sleek.
I have one pair of the 8 inch bookends and two pair of the 6 inch bookends. There are 2 important differences between the sizes. - 1)the bottom of the 8 inch pair is completely covered in a black non-skid rubbery material while the 6 inch pairs only have a good sized square of the non-skid material on each of the four corners of the bottom of the bookends. - 2) obviously the height. These two factors mean it is important to get the right size for the right job. In my case, I bought the 6 inch size bookends for long rows (30 ish books) of children's books of all sizes that I knew would not be touched by my kids very often. I bought the 8 inch bookends for a long row (about 40 ish books) of children's books of all sizes that I knew would get touched multiple times per day by children under the age of 5 (which means they're not careful when they pull the books out, don't know how to put them back in the row and the row that once was nice and orderly at the start of the day leans heavily to one direction at the end of the day). Both sizes do the job I thought they would. The 6 inch keep the books in place and the bookends don't slide around, which is a nice improvement over the old bookends I had which would give way with only minimal manipulation of the books in the row. The 8 inch ones are tall enough and covered with the non-skid material on the bottoms that they keep my long row of leaning books that get touched lots everyday from falling over everynight, a job I do not think the 6 inch bookends could accomplish due to the height of some of the books combined with the weight of the books versus the lower height of the 6 inch version and especially the decreased non-skid material. If price were not a factor I'd go with the 8 inch every time, but it is more expensive than the 6 inch. As far as looks go, both heights look sleek, but the 8 inch has better functionality.

Very strong book end that will support any type book
This is the best book end that I have ever seen. Once you get it, you will want more.

Does exactly what they need to
So far so good, they're doing exactly what I need them to. I'm using these to keep my LP's upright. They're holding up roughly 60 records, including two box sets, without issue. The weight of the records (and I'd assume books, as well) help to hold down the bookends. Will update this review in the future as more albums are added. Beats using my Witcher books and DBZ Blu-ray set to hold them up, hahah!

Good bookend. Perfect for vinyl records.
They are perfect for my vinyl. Wish i had found them sooner. Okly gripe is the base metal could be a little thinner or have a taper to it to make it easier to slide under thungs sitting on a shelf but its not to big of a deal to pull some things off the shelf then set them back on the bookend. Also if you dont hve much space on the shelf it seems thick enough it could cause things not to fit. Get a bigger shelf ffs. Solid built in classic black feels like it could hold a pretty good amount if weight the base us quite long.

Decent, but not great
These are sturdy, not a flimsy metal. They look decent too. My only complaint is they aren't that tall. When I think heavy duty, I think for big books. Well they are too short for tall heavy books. That said, I should have checked the measurements before ordering. They are working well, I just don't put the tall heavy books on them. I ended up ordering tall ones someplace else that do not look as nice for my tall books

HEAVY AND SOLID!
HEAVY! They do their job! I use these to hold up some tall, dense, paperback books. The books being paperback, I was worried about exposed covers and edges splaying above too short bookends. The books being dense and weighty, I was worried about the bookends separating and the paperbacks sagging or distorting. Now I definitely don't need to worry in both cases, and it's a relief. Now I just wish they would make 8-inch pairs of these black metal ones available. I have regular hardcovers I can tell are distorting for lack of tall enough support.
