really great shoes
these are really great very sturdy feeling , not the as comfortable as their brother the ax2 but better grip on the soles, and still fairly comfortable , more sturdy , they have a hard shell type material , where as the ax 2 is much more pliable the gortex is noticeably warm , haven't been in wet or rain yet . they are just slightly looser then the ax2 fit , a bit stiffer in the upper , but over all very similar the elastic tag that keeps the speed laces in place is nice and should be on every pair of shoe in modern times . or a lace locker like the solomon has . over all great you will love them for hiking , if you want a little more casual shoe and want to save some money the ax2 will do you great , if you want something a little more sturdy and warm with the gortex go with the r2 i get the sense that adidas stooped making the r2 and the ax2 versions , and i like them more then the newer versions so i will probably stock up on both .

best shoes ever
I have bought like 7 pairs of these now, not because they wear out and I NEED to keep buying them but because I am afraid they will stop making them and want to have a stock of them! they are really just great. very durable and wearing them all day for work my feet and lower back do not hurt . they do not get stinky because they aren't overly full of padding, and even when the soles are worn super thin the body of the shoe still looks decent because of the gortex material they are made of. to me this is nice because i hate looking like a grungy cruddy guy with nasty shoes but I do work in construction so my shoes are always taking a beating and getting dirty. these you can throw in the washer if they start looking TOO grungy and they come out looking brand new . also love that you do not have to mess with shoe laces, laces are a hazard in my profession and a pain to have to re tie over and over all day, these you just cinch up and go.. al in all the best shoes I have ever found.

Great, durable shoe
I’ve used these shoes for almost 2.5 years now and they have been great. I’ve tried Solomon, Under Armor, Original SWAT, etc. and the Terrex have been the only ones to last longer than 7-8 months. A friend recommended these and I will never buy another work shoe as long as these are made. The shoe stayed waterproof until the laces eventually cut through the top of the shoe and the toes started to separate at about the 2 year mark. Even with the damage, they are still water resistant and my feet are never squishy in a storm unless I walk through water over ankle deep. The soles on my old ones are completely slick from all the concrete/pavement/running but still manage to have some traction. Also the break in time is only a couple of shifts and I never got a hot spot during that time. I’ll still get use out of the old pair as grass cutting shoes, so still getting my money’s worth. Size is spot on for my foot, I wear a 10.5 in almost everything. They also look nice with a uniform which is a plus.

High Quality, Tight Fitting Tail Shoe
The design and construction are high quality. The toe box is tight. The rest of the shoe fits true to size. While it keeps water out, it keeps heat in. The material does not breath well. The shoe is great for late fall, winter and early spring (in New England). Use a different trail shoe that breathes for the other seasons.

Nice shoes and sturdy
These shoes are amazing, you can count on them. amazing grip sole. Tough shoes. Definitely are not made for jogging. I wear them every day and I have no pain... These shoes are made for all terrain but especially for hiking, but work perfectly for day-by-day use even on very hot days due to Gore-tex Membrane. Not a fan of bungee laces, but I can work with them finally... If you are looking for comfortable shoes,,, they are not really... I can't say that I forgot that have shoes on. I can feel my feet in these shoes. and I got the right size. But these shoes are made for tough hiking and are the best

Great Shoes. Goretex is breathable and waterproof
Keep feet dry but still breathable. Goretex works as expected, very well. Toe box is wide, heel and mid foot is a little narrower. Basically fits like every pair of Adidas I've ever worn. I've had earlier versions of these and they lasted very long considering the terrain I take them on. Toe cap is good and seems solid even if I drag my toe. I use for disc golf in all weather and back country and they are very comfortable.

Great all around shoe
This is my 3rd pair of the Adidas terrex swift shoe and I'm struggling to believe they are getting harder to find. The first pair I had were the grey and green with standard laces. Pair #2, were the black/grey/green with the "zip tie" shoelace system. This is what made me want to only buy this pair going forward. I love the goretex bottom trim because I LOATHE wet socks, but beyond that they are really comfortable all-around shoe. I walk in them, cross-train in them, hike in them (great traction by the way), and just about everything else. The zip tie lacing system is a huge plus for me too. Provides great stability in the shoe plus is easy on, easy off. I'm a volunteer firefighter and having that is a plus. Hoping that Adidas continues to make this brand and starts too in more colors. There are starting to get limited so might have to buy another pair for next year when I need to upgrade again.

I got North Face, Salomon GTX hikers. these Adidas Hiking shoes are better in every way possible. I hope they never discontinue this model. Even the newer Terrex Swift R3 is not a better shoes than this. **ADIDAS** You got something people like, stick with it.

Good trainers – I think the US version is slightly slimmer in the foot than the UK version (I got the correct size – I think the 'last' is smaller). Can't find these in the UK so I ordered a pair from the US.
