I had read about Holbein colored pencils for several years. I had watched many hours of video's on Youtube showing artists of every level exclaiming their quality, the color range, the many types of effects one can create, the deep pigment, and the most unusual 50 colors of "pastel" colors that are not common in any Western coloring palettes or seen in other colored pencils.I saw these on the Japanese Amazon page in the Global Shipping section and was able to buy them and have the set shipped to me in San Francisco, CA. They arrived in perfect condition, well packed, and within 5 days! The paper (cardboard) box is a work of art in itself. Each tray was made of a stable plastic with fabric ribbons on each side to lift it up, and each tray was covered by a thin plastic foam sheet to protect the pencils and tips. The thick cardboard box was enclosed inside of another clear plastic box to protect it, reaching a level of quality I have not seen before in any of my other colored pencil sets. That list includes Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Neocolor 2 pastels, Derwent Colorsoft and Derwent Inktense. Except those sets which came in a metal or wooden case.I had also recently purchased the 90 color set of Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush pens, they also came in the same type of clear plastic box but without a protective thin plastic shrink-wrapped covering, and each cap of the pens was loose. I purchased that set through the American Amazon page, but it stated that these were sold via the Kuretake company.I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Holbein colored pencils in 150 colors, and only wish they were available to purchase as "open stock" in the U.S.A., which is another reason I purchased a second complete set! I highly recommend this set to any level artist - from professional to people using them to color into coloring books. The colors are amazing and unusual, and it will give you knew ideas for using them in combination with other art mediums.Thank you!

水彩用細目シートと併用して軽いタッチで精細な描写に向いている。

一般的な色鉛筆より、芯が柔らかく描きやすいと思います。高価なので24色と迷いましたが、やはり36色！ 色が豊富でした。色同士、混ぜれば良いのかもしれませんが 初心者には難しいですね。これから何を描こうかな。楽しみです。

I had always heard about these pencils and wanted to try them, but for whatever reason, Holbein has chosen not to make them available in the US. When I found them here for such a good price, I had to go for it.They do not disappoint!Smooth, creamy pigment that blends well and applies to the tooth of the paper as good as any other pencil I have tried. The colors are deep and vibrant without and artifacts or bloom like you get from a pure wax based pencil.This wax, oils and fats blend Holbein uses does make the leads a little messy, so be careful wiping up dust and debris from the paper surface or you will have smudges.They work with solvent very well for wet blewnding also, and I look forward to trying these with the Meltz solvent recommended for them.For a comparison, I find these to be closest to the Caran D'Ache Pablo colored pencils for color and feel on the paper. If you are used to those, this will be a similar experience. If you are used to Faber Castell Polychromous there may be some adjustments you will need to make for you to be happy with the results.

150色購入です。「ファーバーカステル・ポリクロモス」「サンフォード・プリズマカラー」「カランダッシュ・ルミナンス」等の優秀な同じ値段帯の色鉛筆と比較した感想ですが、この「ホルベイン・アーチストカラー」は値段の割にはそれらと比べると微妙… といった印象でした。まず、「発色」はとても綺麗でした。どちらかと言うと明るい発色で、この色鉛筆の特徴のパステルカラーはどれも美しかったです。芯の固さは柔らかい方で、10段階でポリクロモスを中間の5、とても柔らかいプリズマカラーを10とすると、大体7、8くらいの柔らかさで、僕は柔らかい方が好みなので芯の固さにおいては大満足でした。されど、柔らかい芯にも関わらず描いた時に削れて出る芯の粉も少なく、紙への色のノリもスッ・・・と抵抗なく柔らかく色が付きます。色鉛筆自体の軸、デザインも綺麗で一目でこれがどんな色か とわかり、丁寧でシンプルな作りで持った感覚も一切不快感の無い物でした。中にはプリズマカラーの様に、軸が割れていたり文字が剥げていたり木の質が悪かったりしますが、「全体的に作りが丁寧」という印象を強く受けました。そんな全体的にクオリティの高いホルベインの色鉛筆かと思ってましたが先の3つの色鉛筆と比べるととても大きな欠点があります。それは色の定着率が凄く悪いです。安価な色鉛筆によく見られる「テカり」が酷く、上記の３つの色鉛筆に比べ塗りムラがすごく出来やすいです。同じように塗っていると、上記の3つは綺麗にムラ無く一色に出来るのですが、この色鉛筆は色が薄くムラが出来てそれ以上色が乗らなくなってしまいます。他の方のレビューにもありますが、ワックスが多いのかテカりが出てしまい、「塗り重ね」がとてもしにくい色鉛筆となってしまっているんですね。紙への色の密度の調整は自分ですればよく、色鉛筆は高密度を出せるに越したことはありませんので必然的に評価は下がってしまいます。それだけで「出来ること」がグッと減ってしまい、「なら他の色鉛筆使った方が良いじゃん」と合理的な理由が出来てしまうので、他のポイントは綺麗に高水準を保っている中、これはとても大きなマイナス点でした。高価な色鉛筆ながら一番重要な土台に一歩遅れを取ってしまっているのはすごい残念です。買ったは良いものの、今は変わらずポリクロモスとプリズマカラーをメインで使用しています。とは言え、他の色鉛筆には無いパステルカラーの存在は綺麗で目を引きます。しかし逆に言ってしまえば、このパステルカラーのセットだけのが売っているのでそれをを購入し、後は他の色鉛筆を使った方がいいな…なんて思ったり…。総評をすると、『全体的に丁寧で高水準ながら、大きな欠点を抱えている色鉛筆』といった感想でした。細かい部分も一定の濃さでしっかり塗り込みたい人にはオススメ出来ないですね…。
