Horned Lizard Figurine - Lifelike 5.25" Figure - Educational Toy for Boys, Girls, and Kids Ages 3+

I'm a native Texan, and I grew. up in the 1950's when "horny toads" were so common that we could catch them right there in the back yard. This is a really accurate piece of art, and the price is terrific. I'm very pleased. I also give them as gifts to folks who've never seen Texas wildlife and the strange critters that wander the plains down here.

The figure looks better in person than the picture. It is very good at a short distance at a quick glance. I think you do have to measure your expectations vs price. I grew up catching and holding live ones, but you just cannot measure a figurine of this cost vs the real thing as they are small & have a lot of fine detail and i would expect a much more detailed model would have to be made of a harder material that would not be suitable for children to play with and cost at least 4-5x as much plus taking into account the limited demand. A great little figurine at a modest price.

I must opine about Safari's horned lizard masterpiece. Ahem. It's darling, extremely realistic, and a delightful little fellow for your desk, indoor plant displays, and yes, a durable toy. Nice item for teaching as well. I used to play with real ones as a kid in New Mexico. I would put them in our garden to eat bugs. You can gently pet their neck and back and they will slowly close their eyes and go to sleep! I've bought 3, 1 for myself, and 2 for gifts. Oh, and we call them horny toads in the south west, though we know they aren't. You've got to have one! - Vivian McAlexander

Cute horned toad lizsard....but I was searching for 3D Articulated and it came up and I was careless in checking what it was.

Well made. Husband and I were remembering as children how we saw many Horned toads in fields, area around us. Both lived in or near deserts. Miss seeing them. So bought this for him and he had it in his car.
