The book discusses igneous rocks from mineralogy, structure, and petrology. Great book to keep in your backpack for quick reference about anything you need to know to identify igneous rocks. Another great book by this author is "Introducing Volcanology-A Guide to Hot Rocks" which will expand your knowledge. All photos and diagrams are in full color in both books.

very readable field guide for the field geologist and students of earth science. a good addition to any earth science library.

Quality product. Good binding and paper quality. Well written and nicely illustrated. A good addition to my library of "grab and go" books

Its great to have a color, Kindle edition of this book for use in the field. But there are a few problems. The index has all the subjects but no page numbers. The fine print of some figures is unreadable. Biggest issue, though, is that there is more that could be said or shown in terms of rock and mineral identification.

It is an excellent handbook for field work on igneous rocks. Very well illustrated and didactic.

Great photos! Great text! Indispensable to anyone wanting to understand rocks. Highly recommended. You'll learn more than you bargained for.

I love this little field guide! Very pleased. So much good and practical identification information as well as basic theory. Excellent for a beginner rock collector like me.
