Rowling, Klaus Fritz: Books Review: Absolutely amazing! - I first purchased Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen and fell in love with it. The first chapter book I read in English as a child was Sorcerer's Stone and the first chapter book I read in German was der Stein der Weisen. I went on to purchase the next one and finally this one. I hope to buy the rest of the books (or maybe someone will get them for me for Christmas!(Hint hint to anyone who knows me lol) Anywho, the translation seems to be very accurate unlike the Spanish translation that I had read before. It's fun and easy to understand, a great way to practice your German. I love to show the books to my friends, who find German fascinating since they only had Spanish in their high schools. I recommend this book (and series, really) to anyone who wishes to practice their German (especially if like me, you have no native German speakers for friends). Review: Great translation and awesome language tool. - These books are a great tool for English speakers who have read the series in English and want to improve or maintain their German language skills. I started reading book one at German level B2-1 of the common european framework of reference for languages (roughly 'lower-upper-intermediate' level) and, once I got past the first chapter or so and got used to it, found the reading to be not only doable but enjoyable. I think many of the words would be difficult for someone who had not already read the books in English (unless you happen to already be familiar with words like 'Kobold'...). I have actually read the English series a number of times and was worried that the German translation would be too different and I wouldn't like it, but that has absolutely been no issue, I think they did a fantastic job with the translations. Enjoy!

Harry Potter is fun in almost any language. It's especially fun in German.
Harry Potter is fun in almost any language. It's especially fun in German. For Potter is Gothic. It's Brothers Grimm-ish. It has castles, dungeons, wizards, potions and strange creatures. If German is a second language for you, this is the perfect book to read. It moves quickly, maintains interest, has a (somewhat) limited vocabulary and simpler grammar than many books intended for adults. Give this a whirl!

Another awesome read!
The German version is done well, and the story is good in both languages. The language level is not too difficult for B2 level German learners.

Awesome way to learn German
I love the Harry Potter stories. And I'm learning German. What better way to facilitate language learning than by listening to these audio CDs while driving. Knowing the story line helps immensely in understanding and learning new vocabulary. The reader speaks clearly and uses a different intonation for every character. I understand more and more every time I listen to these CDs. Sometimes I review a sentence several times in a row and practice saying the sentence to learn new vocabulary or learn complex verb tenses.

Same book Different Launguage
I liked the Book. It was practicly the same In german as it was in english. the only problem Is That germans dont have all the words we do so it lost some Of its Fabulous Detail That we know J.K writes with. Its a good book but read it in english first.

Very good for keeping german skills sharp
I read the books as a teenager and everything JK writes is fantastic. I am currently rereading them in german since I learned it a long time ago and wanted to keep at least part of my language skills. With and engaging and captivating story and just the right level of advanced vocabulary, theses books are a great way to keep your german alive!
