This is the most wonderful flatware, heavy, balanced, beautiful finishing (smooth etc) and gleaming mirror polishing. The design, filigree and detail is astonishing. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. I got two sets for my son's weddings so the flatware hasn't been used yet so the only two unknowns are spotting and permanency of the gold plating. However, considering all of the reviews it appears that if you hand wash soon after use, NOT MANY HOURS LATER, and hand dry those comments are of no concern. Acids in food, if left in contact with most metals, will discolor the metal or eventually remove the surface layer. So that's only a matter of washing off all possible acids from any good metal items which come in contact with food. BUY SOME OF THESE AT AMAZON FOR $165. BELIEVE IT OR NOT THERE ARE MANY SITES WHICH SELL THE IDENTICAL ITEM, SAME WALLACE ITEM, FOR $600-1,000 AND UP TO $3,450. AT A VERY FINE ART HOUSE, NOT A SCAM LISTING.

What an exquisite product! Not only is the gold flatware beautiful, certainly enhancing any table setting, but the weight is heavy, the quality is evident and all for such a reasonable price. This is a great value. The expedited delivery and tracking service was a distinct plus. I don't often write reviews, but this product is so perfectly beautiful and very much what I was looking for, that I felt compelled to write a review! Thank you Amazon.

I love how pretty these are! Even prettier in person than the picture. Except the knives, the pieces are all stamped 18/10, and at first blush, they really look like silver. Really shiny and intricate, and they clean up nicely in the dishwasher. However, these are a lot lighter than the forged continental stainless set they're replacing. Their light weight and slightly smaller size give them a somewhat flimsy, kind of cheap, feel in the hand. Also, the forks have somewhat rough edges on the back side where the embellishments flare out a bit, which I think contributes to the sense that this is an imitation of great flatware rather than being great itself. I got a great price through Amazon Warehouse, or I'd probably have returned the set.

This item gets a terrible review because the manufacturer (or seller) did not check the items before sending it out. I had 5 pieces very terribly tarnished and 2 pieces that you could possibly scratch your tongue on. Seriously??? Who sends their merchandise out like this??? I talked to a customer service rep with Amazon and was sent a new set so I can switch out the damaged pieces. Only 2 stars because of the rep. Otherwise I would have rated it a no star!!!! It’s a shame because the pieces that are in good shape are beautiful . My prior set from Wallace I purchased 25 years ago from Neimans. So yes it tarnishes over a period of time, it is not rust resistant, but I was able to use this set for years before replacing. .

I have always owned Oneida previously, but am truly delighted with this set! My husband loves the weight of the pieces and it definitely upgrades our dining experience! I haven't yet washed it in the dishwasher as I am still eager to avoid an possibility of scratches though it reportedly washes well. Some may not care for the somewhat longer dinner fork, but the set is well proportioned.

After looking for several years for a gold plated set I was so excited to find this service for 12. Even though it was quite pricey I decided to treat myself to a nice Christmas present. They are beautiful and will stay that way IF you don't use them. Within 3 months the finish was fading and they were tarnishing and getting rust spots. I hand wash and dry them so they aren't rusting as bad, but I've had them a year now and the finish is almost totally gone. I paid a very high price and expected much better quality. The size and weight of this set are fantastic, but the finish is very thin and cheap.

A couple years ago we ordered this set in the gold finish to use in our dining room. It's just what we wanted and we have no regrets. Then a few months ago we needed a house warming gift for a friend so we ordered the set in silver. It was beautiful! So now I find myself buying my 3rd set to use as my everyday flatware. We chose the silver finish because it will endure the dishwasher.

My new flatware is very very nice. I had purchased another set from a high end store and that product was poor in comparison to this one. I am inclined to purchase another set of Wallace flatware. The product is of a good weight, the color is an excellent quality gold not a harsh gold. I purchased this product even though there were a couple of negative reviews. To those reviews that stated the product was faulty, I can only surmise they had gotten a bad batch. I am very happy with the purchase.
