Impressingly balanced
After hunting the Internet for reviews on what headphones to buy and what not to buy, I came across the new Bose Quietcomfort headphones, only released in the latter end of 2023. It was a toss up between these and the rivaling Sony WH1000XM4s, and these come out on top. Firstly, the sound of these headphones are near enough perfect. Straight out of the box, they are well balanced and offer a great amount of bass without distorting whilst also not drowning out the mids and the trebles. The box instructs you to download the Bose app and within this, you can adjust the EQ to your liking. Sound quality is very subjective and it must be understood that when looking at reviews for headphones, you may have different preferences when it comes to sound. And this is where the EQ comes in - you can adjust the bass, mid and trebles. As an audiophile myself, I am geared more towards crisp and non distorted sound whilst also preferring to feel the bass. These headphones do that. I have adjusted the EQ in favour of bass, slightly increasing the mid and favouring more treble too. They have a great balance and will not distort the sound. A tip for testing out these headphones whether at home or in the store would be to search for Spotify playlist specifically created to test out headphones with well produced songs of all genres. The fit is great and they are comfortable (as expected with the name). These are my first headphones due to always using earbuds in the past. They do not feel hot or close to the ear as reported sometimes with the XM4, and after trying out both of the headphones in store I can confidently say these are more comfortable. The build quality is as expected, they feel solid whilst also being lightweight and flexible. I will have to see how these last but judging by previous versions of the Quietcomfort, they will last a long time. I have seen quite a few issues reported online with the XM4 and XM5s breaking that hinge and this is not what you want from headphones whih are designed to fold. The ANC is great and is definitely industry leading. I haven't tried the XM4s NC fully so cannot comment on the comparison however these are far superior to my other wireless earbuds (pixel pro) and airpod pros. ANC on any headphones are not designed to block out 100% of noise however these come close to it. I cannot hear chatter or low frequencies and I believe these will perform well in noisy environments. They do have a slight (really slight) white noise when not playing music in ANC mode however you will not find a pair of headphones that will not as the technology is not advanced enough to do so. The aware mode is equally impressive and allows you to hear what you is around you and hold conversation without feeling like you have headphones on your head. The buttons are easy to use and controls the noise cancelling mode, volume, play/pause and the on and off switch. I do not like headphones/earbuds with swipe functions as they sometimes do not work properly and I struggle to see how physical buttons on these headphones will fail. These are the improved version of the QC45s with the addition of wind block mode which I had read was terrible on the QC45s. The drivers are reported to be better on the newer versions meaning more bass and better sound quality. If you are after a reliable pair of headphones then get these. They are expensive however are a great investment. The XM4s are slightly cheaper however have more reported issues, as with the QC45s.

well worth the money. great for the office environment.
We bought these for a colleague as we have adopted them as standard kit. if you are in teams calls in loud environments these blank out all the noise. They are comfortable, and easy to set up. The battery life seems good, I have an older set and they are now 6 years old and still have 18 hours battery life. the sound quality/clarity is great, the fit well and are quite durable with spare parts easy to obtain.

"Silence the World in Style: Bose QuietComfort Wireless Headphones Are Your Ears' New Best Friend!"
The Bose QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are like that friend who’s always calm, cool, and collected—even when everyone else is losing their minds. The noise-cancellation is so good, you might start wondering if you’ve gone deaf or if the world just suddenly decided to shut up. It’s perfect for those moments when you’re trying to ignore your neighbor’s questionable taste in music or that loud talker on the train. Comfort-wise, these headphones are the equivalent of wrapping your ears in a cloud. They’re lightweight and have ear cups that are so plush, you’ll forget you’re even wearing them—until you stand up quickly and they remind you they’re there by clattering to the floor. As for the sound, it’s like a warm hug for your ears—rich, balanced, and just bassy enough to make you feel like you’ve got a personal concert going on. Sure, some audiophiles might think the bass is a bit too enthusiastic, but for the rest of us, it’s just the right amount of oomph to make your music pop. The battery life is solid too, so you won’t be left in silence halfway through a long flight or workday. Just remember, these beauties are more for chilling out than working out—they’re not going to stay on your head if you decide to break into a spontaneous sprint. Overall, if you’re looking to treat your ears to some luxury and block out the chaos of the world, the Bose QuietComfort Wireless are worth every penny. Plus, you’ll get the added bonus of looking super cool while you’re at it!

Amazing high quality alternative to super premium wireless headphones
Amazing balanced sound without neglecting bass, amazing fit with a very robust design, connectivity is very fast and the noise cancellation is super effective with a long battery life - the best headphones I’ve used so far and I think compete nicely with the higher end headphones while not being overly expensive - definitely recommend

Only the best
Bose QC vs Sony XM5: The Clash of the Chill I spent way too long comparing the Bose QuietComfort to the Sony WH-1000XM5. Here’s the no-nonsense, coffee-fueled verdict: --- 🎧 Comfort Bose QC: Like laying your ears on two memory-foam clouds that respect your personal space. Sony XM5: Also comfy, but tighter around the ears—like a gentle hug you didn't ask for. ✅ Winner: Bose. These stay comfy even during long flights or Spotify spirals. --- 🔇 Noise Cancellation Bose QC: Instantly deletes the outside world. Crying baby? Gone. Vacuum? What vacuum? Sony XM5: Also phenomenal—slightly more customizable, but a touch less aggressive. ✅ Winner: Bose (just barely). Still the king of "shut up and let me focus." --- 🎵 Sound Quality Sony XM5: Rich, bassy, and smooth—like dark chocolate in audio form. Bose QC: Clear, neutral, natural—like studio monitors with better manners. ✅ Winner: Depends. Sony for bass heads. Bose for purists. I lean Bose for “clarity without chaos.” --- 📱 App & Features Sony: App has more toys—EQ, ambient sound zones, head gestures, possibly mind reading. Bose: Simpler app, fewer distractions. It just… works. ✅ Winner: Sony, if you like tweaking. Bose, if you like peace. --- 🔋 Battery Life Both last forever (like 24–30+ hours), so unless you’re crossing oceans or dimensions, you’re set. ✅ Winner: Let’s call it a draw and move on. --- 💡Final Verdict: Bose QuietComfort: The introvert’s dream. Unmatched comfort + reliable, neutral sound + “leave me alone” energy. Sony XM5: The audiophile’s gadget. Bassier, fancier, nerdier—with a few extra buttons to press. 🙋♂️ I picked Bose. Why? Because sometimes you just want comfort, quiet, and competence—without needing a PhD in headphone settings.

Best Around for Over-Ear in 2025
These headphones are by far the best I’ve ever owned. From a sound, build quality, functionality, ease of use and comfort standpoint. I’ve had use of the Sony WH1000XM4’s for about a year, as well as using older Bose QC45 (wired), Samsung Buds Pro 2 & Airpods 4. These new Bose are the full package and tick every box that other products can’t. I listen to music constantly and these allow me to do it without fiddling or adjustment. In ear headphones never seem to sit right despite liking the portability. The Bose are bulkier compared to an airpod but the actual experience of wearing them is so much more comfortable than having a shiny, slippery, hard peice of plastic crammed in your ear. The quality is top tier. Listening to a podcast with these on can sometimes have me taking the headphones off to check my surroundings as you hear spacial aduio in the room of the podcast that sounds like its around you. It can be a little bit bewildering at first as you can really pinpoint where sounds are coming from. These enhance and immerse you in songs that I’ve not had in another product. My only slight gripes if I could have any is that you pay extra for the hard shell case. It’s an absolute essential and worth the money but seems a little bit of a steep price for what it is. The AUX cable is a little bit thin and doesn’t feel like it will last a long time, still quality and works well however. The only other point is where Airpods 4 have the one up here, the interactive audio cues for transparency and quite mode is much more pleasant to listen to than the Bose AI voice which sounds like a Windows 98 screen narrator. Otherwise these for me are the winner over the Sony XM4’s. Comfort is similar, build quality and case are too. The bose win it for me very slightly with better ANC, functionality buttons and no swiping interface on the side which I found problematic with Sony. Bose are much easier to use consistently and in general the best to use that I’ve found. Worth the money if you can afford it. *1 month update- windows98 narrator can be turned off in the app. *3 month update - Updated pictures . Still working well and see plenty use. Not useful whilst using power tools/diy work, mic feeds back loud noises even when NC on and filtering wind noise.

Bose ComfortQuiet Headphones
Comfiest over-ear headphones I have ever worn! They're so soft, comfortable and don't squeeze my head! The app provides access to EQ controls and even programming shortcuts. They sound amazing and tick all the boxes for me. I have a very sensitive head, as well as ears, and these headphones really live up to their name, with them bringing comfort and great sound! Noise cancelling is fantastic as well as the aware mode. Very much worth getting!
