I am a volunteer 'companion' at a hospice facility.
I sit with people whose prognosis is 6 months or less left to live. I volunteer with an organization that believes 'no one should die alone.' "Companion" volunteers come alongside residents and try to find conversational common ground. Many times people are looking reconciliation with God or others. Or, they may be looking for hope, comfort, peace or assurance. This quick reference book has been invaluable in my efforts to share hope with those who are on the verge of eternity, and are open to hearing from the Word of God. A great resource!

Great for Spiritual Growth
I love this book. My mentor recommended it to me for a guy that I'm discipling and it has been a great resource. Unsurprisingly, it has been very helpful to my own spiritual growth as well.

Great reference for common sinful response
Easy to read and reference when working with a client. Makes the counseling smoother when side tracked with a problem that has not been dealt with.

A beneficial book for personal or professional spiritual guidance & growth.
I have an earlier edition of this book, which I find is a useful devotional meditation for my own spiritual development as well as counseling others. I ordered this current edition to send to a friend/colleague elsewhere, for her use in teaching/counseling ministry there. I like the organization of alphabetical subjects & the sub topics w/related scripture therein. In this edition, I was touched by the poignant, loving, & respectful tribute to the author, the Rev. John G. Kruis & his wife Gene, both now deceased, by their five children. Their ministry continues on through this book.
