Adjustable Restraints
Ordered this set of restraints, and they work pretty well for the most part. On the positive side, they are very adjustable. The cuffs are large and clearly able to handle a wide variety of sizes, both for the wrist cuffs and the ankle cuffs. After wrapping the soft cuffs around the ankle or wrists, it uses velcro to keep the cuffs to the desired tightness and holds very firmly. I have mixed feelings on the design that attaches the cuffs to the restraint straps. There are plastic clips that connect the cuffs to the restraint straps. The plastic clips feel pretty strong right now, but I'm a little nervous about the clips holding up over time, as they represent a clear potential failure point (i.e. if those clips release because they loosen or break, then it leaves that appendage unrestrained with a cuff on). But, the upside of this design is that it allows you to release the cuff without having to resize and readjust the cuffs themselves any time you want to temporarily release. The restraint straps are also also very adjustable. One end can be looped around any sturdy part of the bed, and there is plenty of length to allow a variety of attachment point options. You can then cinch down the length to get the desired amount of overall restraint length per appendage. Finally, the cuffs themselves are a little mixed. The cuff material that contacts with the wrists and ankles is soft, so definitely helps to avoid chafing. As you can see from the picture, it has a different material and no velcro on the side that makes contact with the body. But, other restraints we've used are a little stiffer, which helps to spread out the force and not have a hot spot right around the strap. Depending on your use, this may or may not be an issue, just be aware of this and ensure that's fine for your needs. Overall, this is a nice set, feels good against skin, and is highly adjustable for a variety of attachment approaches and body sizes. At about $22 at the time I ordered these, it's a reasonable price.

poor to okay
not good so the whole point of a 'soft restraint' is to spread out the force across a larger surface well these do NOT DO THAT - the 'soft' part is too soft, too loose, too floppy therefore all the force from struggling is easily transferred through the soft bit so these are basically 1 inch straps which feel a smidge wider now, mind you I've tested these - using what I feel the same force our struggling, dementia patient may feel going feral - her skin being much softer and much easier to abraid and bruise sot he point here is I cannot know what she 'feels' or is aware of but there's plenty of bruising (some was expected) and they don't really get tight enough to prevent rotational abrasions there are also abrasions at the edges of the 'soft' bit - not sure if she's pushing down against the mattress or if it's the natural hardness of the seams around the wrap (soft bit) - I cannot be the 'same' kind of tester as her skin might experience so...do they 'restrain' sure, yeah they do work as restraints are they 'medical' - well if you use them medically I suppose - is a cup medical whether it's in a kitchen or a hospital are the straps 'of good lengths' - yes are the plastic connection clasps very hard and dig into flesh - also yes (not a good yes mind you) of course that depends on how loose things are could someone escape - very unlikely - while I can get fingers close/on the clasp without 2 hands I couldn't see someone getting these open - of course slipping out is a possibility - as well if one were able to lift up the velcro - obviously I spent 3 minutes trying to escape - someone stuck in bed for a longer time might get bored and more creative end of the strap on the bed side is a series of cross over type friction so you can thread this through - most are just a loop - but here you could form a loop or whatever all in all these are just poor design and construction - and there are much better/easier ways - of course our 'data points' are me and our dementia mother in law who isn't talking much regarding 'quality review' information and yes it feels horrible to have to restrain someone - and we keep telling ourselves it's for her own good - because scratching OFF your skin or harming yourself isn't okay either cost/value - yeah...good - at the time dec2025 these were 24 bucks - you try making these for 6 bucks each - sure there are cheaper options all in all I'd wish for better 'soft' padding that spreads out the loads/forces better - but otherwise are just okay also the clasp is a bit hard to manipulate even for caregivers at the 'free' side of the bed
