Philips PerfectCare Steam Generator Iron 8000 Series, Speed Mode, Intelligent Automatic Steam, Automatic Vertical Steam, Guaranteed no Burns (PSG8130/80)

We have had this a few months now, brilliant iron. Yes, as many of the reviewers have stated, it can spray out water initially, but it does tell you to let the initial steam clear in the instructions. Once this hurdle is overcome, the iron is fantastic, one of the best we have owned. Rapid ironing and effortless removal of creases, plenty of steam and more if you need it! The water tank has more than enough to last a full basket, definitely worth the extra money, although wait for the sales :) like we did. One thing that is a little annoying, you cannot stand the iron up on the ironing board, it has to be placed back on to the base, but we think of it as an additional safety feature.

Awesome - moving up from a previous Phillips steam generator iron - so much easier to use, and much faster to iron. A little bit of leakage for the first piece of clothing, but nothing of concern. Good steam pressure - and well controlled. If you are comparing this to another brand, ensure that other brand has auto temperature selection - this makes a huge difference when powering through a wide variety of different materials. Not so impressed with the ironing of curtains (in situ) but I'm not convinced any iron would handle that well. Especially very good with heavy materials. Light enough to use for long periods of time with hand ache. Always best to wait for Prime day or comparative sales days, as price is drastically reduced.

Buy this iron if you wanna test your patience. It may very well be the most F'... up iron ever. The heating time feels endless. If you make a 40-second interruption to ironing, the endless waiting time starts over. You literally want to smash this thing to the wall. Furthermore, it leaks water like crazy. They even admit it in the user manual. See the attached picture. It continues to leak like a fountain anytime. It is astonishing that the designers of this iron clearly haven't used it once. It is a punishment. You can present it to the people you hate. To use this iron can be incorporated into the legal system as a punishment method for some offenses.

What I liked about this iron: - I was worried I will notice no difference as I already have a very good iron (Philips Azur Elite - GC5037/86), however, this steam generator iron was significantly more powerful and quicker in ironing creases - Large amount of steam with great pressure. Again this leads to great performance. - Automatic steam output. I don't have to press the trigger to release steam. I believe this is one of the advantages of this model compared to other steam generators released by Phillips. - I don't have to worry about storing the hot iron plate once I'm done ironing as I can just attach it to the base. What I don't like: - Very bulky and large even for a steam generator. My iron board has a specific spot for steam generators and this barely fits on it. - Not very quick to heat up. - Instructions manual is not clear.

Very pleased works well

I’ve been using Phillips steam generators for almost a decade now and would never go back to a regular iron. I bought this one a few months ago to replace my previous model that was dropped a few times and eventually fell apart (still worked though haha). This model is great and I love the fact that you no longer need to hold a button to release steam. It works beautifully on any fabric, just like the previous model. One small aspect to be aware of though: the iron will spray water for a few seconds initially before it gets really hot. This happens every time you warm up the iron from cold. Just make sure you release any steam/spray for the initial 10-15 seconds and you’re good to go, no other issues.

This is a fantastic steam generator iron. Yes it's a bit pricy, but worth it especially if you can get when discounted and on interest free payments. It works really well and smooths out even extremely creased linen. Best iron I've ever owned. My only minor negative with Philips irons is slightly poorly designed cable and lack of flex storage.
