Brilliant but seriously flawed and bugged
The good. It's an excellent Sat Nav. Clear, fast, great screen. All the latest TomTom features are there like live traffic (so it knows where traffic jams are and diverts you around them), lane guidance on motorways. It will read out street names to you and understand you when you speak destinations to it. It even tells you the weather where you're going and lets you Google search for amenities in the area. The ability to just plug it into the dash is superb. You never need to bother about charging and it shows you ipod/usb music playlists on the screen. The bad. It's supposedly a branded version of a LIVE1000, but.. for some reason.. many features have been disabled. You can add your own POIs but thats about it. Adding voices, custom graphics, custom car symbols, custom start-up screens have all been removed. Everything except POI addition has been removed. You are paying a premium price, for reduced functionality. The MyTomTom updating software is awful. It doesn't work on IE9 unless you run in compatibility mode and any map or firmware updates take AGES (we're talking hours) and have a tendancy to crash at the last minute.. bricking your TomTom until you successfully run them again. TIP: Shut down EVERYTHING else on your PC and connect the TomTom to a highspeed USB port at the back of your computer not through a hub or extension. And the TomTom gives you directions on the display in your dashboard (where the mileometer is). Except in the UK it displays these in km instead of miles. This is a bug and doesn't seem to be being fixed. Tomtom says its a FIAT bug.. FIAT says its a TomTom bug.If you can live with the hassles of updating, the limitations of the add-ons and the bug... it really is a fantastic Sat Nav.

Great asset and improves the functionality of my Fiat 500
Thought about this purchase for a while due to price and reports of limited functionality in Amazon reviews. The device has been in my Fiat 500 a while now and it fits seamlessly with the operations of my car. It has a standard Tom Tom interface for sat nav and does everything I need it to do in this respect. Easy access to the car's trip computer is easier than using the in-built systems on my Fiat. This is true too of accessing my media library on my USB chip. Accessing my mobile phone contacts list is easy and again more straightforward than the on-board Blue & Me process. The vehicle mounting is a great feature which is easy to install and adjust but make sure that the docking port has been installed before purchase. Would I buy it again? Yes, it is a great asset and improves the functionality of my '500.

Software issues!!! Rubbish
Had this for just over 2 years. It never connected to any pc even trying new leads. There has just been a critical update and as my unit won’t update its now of no use whatsoever. I’ve contacted Tom Tom but they’ve stopped replying. Avoid at all costs!!!

Key funxtions just don't work
Ir won't connect to the in-car Bluetooth and won't connect to MyDriveConnect on the PC so it's impossible to update. Very, very poor considering the price. FIAT and Alfa Romeo drivers should save their money.

rubbish
Everything the 12th Aug review wrote is correct. I will add the device is hopeless at selecting the bigger main roads and will always send you off down the tiniest single lane roads just because they may be a little more direct. It is the worst sat nav I have ever used. Oh, it also dies at times and takes forever to start up.
