Works well
I have a pair of hiking boots that are made of fabric, and suede leather. The leather was getting stiff and would easily wet out if I stepped in water. I wanted something to soften the leather so it wouldn't rip, and I wanted to waterproof them again. This product is not meant for suede or nubuck because it will mat down the fibers, but I wanted to use it anyway because the leather needed conditioning. Sure enough, it darkened the leather and matted down the fibers. I don't really care about how my hiking boots look, so that's not a problem. For suede or nubuck that doesn't need conditioning, try McNett's Suede, Nubuck, and Fabric waterproofing instead. I used some of that on the fabric portions of those boots. Once the stuff dries overnight, the boots get slightly less dark, and over time they faded back to their normal color. The waterproofing works extremely well, and I can briefly dip the boots in water without the leather wetting out. The Goretex membrane keeps water from coming in around the seams- this product won't do that. But it keeps the leather from becoming saturated which would make the boots feel clammy and damp inside even with a goretex liner. As I mentioned the darkness (wet look) added by this product faded over time, but the boots still had some waterproofness. They were not waterproof enough to keep from saturating during two days of hiking in bogs and wet brush, but I don't think any treated leather would stay dry in that environment. I'll use them again in the winter, which is another abusive environment for these boots. I was worried about the leather deteriorating after applying this, as I've seen happen with other conditioners. So far I haven't noticed any deterioration. I'll probably use this on my nicer, more expensive boots when they need it. The bottle has enough to treat a few pairs of boots.

Best product on the market
I wear the ICW Boot, Army issued to me when I was deployed to Bosnia and was able to buy the newer boot through Amazon. This product totally keeps the boots water proof (Boot already is water proof, plus GOR-TEX lined and thinsulate insert) by repelling the water so it doesn't soak into the leather. Water just beads off like a freshly waxed car. Also, it allows the GOR-TEX to breath so my feet don't get wet from sweeting. Btter than mink oil for GOR-TEX boots.

Another conditioner and water repellant
This is a good product. No mistake. It's easy to apply and it does improve the condition of the leather. But it is difficult to get the small spaces between the laces and around the lace holes coated adequately. The appearance after treatment is excellent, with no darkening of the (full-grained) leather. The only problem is that after water on the boots the lace hole regions at the base remain moist. Maybe a special applicator is needed. The product itself is fine.

This stuff works GREAT
I use on my hiking boots every season. Conditions the leather and helps water repel without impacting the effectiveness of the Gore-Tex's ability to allow water vapor to escape. Highly recommended!

Waterproofs well.
A little goes a long way. Used it on my leather gloves, shoes and jacket. After drying it buffs to a nice shine too.

It works!
I used it on my Gaenere Adventure riding boots which are all leather. I knew that we were going to encounter a lot of rain on one day of our ride. Over a couple of day period I applied four coats on the boots and they keep my feet dry. I even had to step in a creek crossing and they stayed dry. Video on YouTube at Off-Road Riding Adventures.
