Banister adapter works great
I purchased the 8mm Banister adapter and installed it on a gate for my lower stairs. It worked great, unfortunately the gate only lasted one day before it broke at the hinge. I returned it to Amazon and bought another brand gate and again used the Banister adapter. This gate was higher at the contact point on the banister so I had to spread the adapter a little wider to get a good fit. That was no problem and it now fits perfectly. This works great. It seems to be be well made. If you have a gate to install and have a banister that you need to pressure mount it to I recommend this item. Just make sure you buy the correct size spindle.

Perfect for banister stair railings
We needed to put a gate up in our new house so the dogs couldn't go upstairs. We have a banister on our stair hand railings and we tried using the extensions we bought for the gate but it would not stay. (I didn't know about these at the time.) I tried to rig up something with plastic ties and my husband tried using wood blocks and neither helped until I search for these and found them. They work perfectly and without destroying my wood.

Not the best fit for a metal banister but you can make it work with wire ties.
I needed this product to attach the gate to my metal banister. While the product does work, you cannot tighten the top of the gate enough to make it completely safe. It was still very wobbly at the top and I had to use wire ties to secure it. Now it is very sturdy and sound. Be very careful and check the size and the length of the bolts… I am on my fourth set and these are the closest fit for this gate.

Safe, secure and sturdy. Highly recommend!
EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!! These banister gate adapters are seriously the most genius invention ever. We have skinny banisters on one side of our staircase and a solid wall on the other and I needed a baby gate to fit securely at the top of the stairs to prevent my little love from having a bad tumble. These things are high quality, durable, easy to use/ attach to multiple baby gates effortlessly and are a must have for staircases with banisters of any size! They come with a rubber attachment to prevent scratching and securely connect to a large variety of banisters. I'm so impressed by these adapters and highly recommend them to everyone!! My husband put his full weight on the baby gate at the top of the stairs once these adapters were installed and the baby gate didn't budge a hair. These things are amazing!!

Really Works
I was skeptical that a $12 solution would really work. But it does. It takes a bit of patience to install. We found it works best to flattened the U-pieces, attached and slightly tighten the bottom, then mold the U-piece around the banister. We've had it up for 2 weeks and its held against my 9 month old and 3 year old boys.

Very decent, although doesn't hold gate straight, but still worth the money.
These are very decent, not as good as other alternatives, but at the cheap price definitely worth it. Other solutions were running $80 or more, with some solutions idiotically only including one end for a round bannister instead of 2. I almost made my own solution consisting of 2 nice pieces of finished oak velcroed to the bannisters to attach a gate to, but then I came across this solution and decided to give it a try. I had 2 issues, the first was the seller stated an incorrect bolt size for these. I thought they would fit my Summer gate, but the bolts were too small so they just slide into the gate instead of screwing in. 2) because the bolts slide in and have some play my gate is always slightly crooked and doesn't latch. I simply have to slightly pull the gate out a bit with my hand and then it latches again, so it's not the end of the world. I may try to rig something such as a sleeve to remove some of the play. The parts that contact the bannister are a bit ugly and unfinished, and you have to use the supplied foam to not damage the bannister. Totally functional, but it would have been nice if they made it look nicer. Possibly by having the ends rubberized and/or having the foam pre-attached. Still, as mentioned before, for the price I'm not complaining, only suggesting. When I have free time I will spray the ends with some rubber paint and cut the foam down to size. Overall a good solution if you want to save some money and don't want to drill into your bannisters or otherwise damage them.

Perfect for adapting to a banister
We have 3 of the Regalo baby gates (as pictured) and one needed to secure the bottom of our stairway. I swapped the white plastic nuts that these came with for the black ones the gate came with and it works great. Note: the Regalo gates use M8 stud size.

Did Not Work, Waste of Money!
If I could give this zero stars, I would. I tried to use this with the baby gate we have on our stairs, but these adaptors kept slipping down the banister when I would tighten them to the needed length. It made the gate pretty unsturdy and fell down a few times due to slippage, despite using the foam provided. Unfortunately, we were too late on returning it because we were going to try and use it on another gate we ordered, which was delayed in shipping. This was $13 down the drain.
