Mini Treats & Hand-Held Sweets: 100 Delicious Desserts to Pick Up and Eat Review: Great little treats from the very best baker - I'm already a huge fan of Abby Dodge's baking books (The Weekend Baker is essential) and with this book, she's added another must have book to my cookbook library. Her easy, yet authoritative style will have you baking the best little snacks in no time. We loved the espresso chip fantails, so good for tea time. And the chewy brownie bites were rich and chocolatey and completely satisfying. But my all time favorite, and no doubt it is because of the charming headnote, is the big mountain slab pie. It's a giant fig newton, but about a million times better. This is a wonderful book - great gift for any baker, from experienced to novice. Review: Look no more - perfect gift for your baker this Christmas! - I was lucky enough to bid and win an autographed copy of Mini Treats & Hand-Held Sweets for a charity event. I loved it so much - I bought another copy to giveaway in a group I started called Cookbook Junkies. I have Abby's Williams Sonoma cookbook - Desserts which I love - and after reviewing Mini Treats - I ordered The Weekend Baker - which I am told is a must have. Back to Mini Treats - this is not one of those generic mini dessert cookbooks - this is a beautifully written and photographed baking bible with unique and exotic flavor combinations such as White Chocolate Filled Orange-Pistachio Macarons! I went through the book and started placing a sticky on each recipe I'd like to try - then I realized there was a sticky on almost every recipe. Cinnamon Toast Scones, Mini Mocha Roll Cakes, Chocolate-Glazed Peanut Butter Fingers, Dulche de Leche Cheesecakes are just a few of the recipes I will be making. I love mini or individual desserts but I always fear that I will misjudge the baking time if I convert a recipe - and I'm a pretty experienced baker - Abby has taken all the guess and worry away from us with this book. Perfect to use while baking treats for your holiday baking trays - and perfect to give to friends and family that love to bake!

Not enough pictures
It would have been perfect if all the recipes had pictures. The recipes are interesting and seems easy to follow but since there are no photos of the baked products i'm not that excited to try it.

Great cookbook for an experienced baker!
Synopsis: An AWESOME collection of mini treats. Those perfect sized treats for any gathering to give attendees a nice selection. Recipes include mini tarts, cookies, ice cream treats, cakes and candies. My rating: 4 Stars My opinion: This was a dynamic cookbook that will be used in my entertaining and holiday trays. It would have been a 5 star cookbook had there have been more pictures. This cookbook is not for a novice chef and most recipes are quite intricate...step by step pictures or in-process pictures definitely would be helpful to bakers. I must add that I didn't like the formatting of the ebook. Now, I do have to admit that it looks like this book is not available in ebook format, so this complaint maybe a moot point to my 4 star review, but in what I read, it was mushed together. Source:Netgalley for Taunton Press Would I recommend? : Yes, for more experience bakers. Get the print copy! Stand Alone or Part of a Series: Stand Alone

Not for the young baker
I was hoping to give this to my grand daughter as a gift but it was not written in a child friendly manner.
