I bought the Yoto Mini (2024 Edition) + Starter Pack for my little one, and it has quickly become one of the best purchases I’ve made. The new 2024 Mini feels super sturdy, lightweight, and easy for small hands to carry around. The buttons are simple enough for my child to use independently, which makes them feel really proud and grown-up. The Starter Pack cards are perfect for younger kids—fun, calming, and age-appropriate. My child loves switching through the stories and music, and I especially appreciate how it keeps them entertained without needing a screen. The sound quality from such a small device is surprisingly clear, and the volume limits are great for peace of mind. Battery life is excellent too. We’ve taken it on car rides, errands, and to grandma’s house, and it lasts all day without needing a charge. The new 2024 updates definitely make it feel even smoother and more responsive. I bought the Yoto Mini as an Alexa alternative for my nonverbal toddler, because voice commands are a lost cause here and I was over having the TV on just to play music or background noise. I honestly didn’t expect it to slide into our routine this easily, but it did. We use it during homeschool time and throughout the day when I want something playing that isn’t a screen. It gives her some independence, which is huge for us. She figured out the buttons immediately. It’s very straightforward, nothing that requires reading or speech. She can start her own music or stories without me hovering over it, and that alone makes it feel worth it. The thing I love most is that you don’t have to rely on the physical cards. You can download every card you buy straight into the app, so even if a card goes missing, you can still play the content. That’s honestly one of the main reasons I picked this over other audio players. It’s a small detail, but it makes the whole system way less stressful. I also use the Bluetooth feature more than I expected. If there’s something I want her to hear that isn’t on a card, I just connect my phone and play it. It basically doubles as a tiny Bluetooth speaker when we need it to. We’ve used it for music, educational songs, even little audio prompts during homeschool. It just gives us more options without me having to hand her my phone or turn on the TV. The sound is good for its size. It’s not meant to fill the whole house, but it’s clear and loud enough for a kid sitting nearby. If I’m being picky, I wish the speaker had a little more richness to it, but honestly, for a device this small, I can’t really complain. Overall, it’s been a great fit for a kid who can’t use Alexa and still wants some control over what she listens to. It keeps her entertained without screens, it frees up my TV, and the card-downloading thing makes the whole system so much more realistic for everyday use. I’d definitely buy it again, and I kind of wish I’d gotten it sooner. The mini is so cheap, and we plan to upgrade to a full size player eventually. Yoto mini is a great intro to the Yoto world.

This is hands down the best thing you can buy a 4+ year old, though you could also get it for a 2-3 year old. Not only is the daily radio program informative and engaging, but the yoto is designed cleverly to be easy to work for toddlers and above. The sound quality is phenomenal, this adds so many quality moments to our days, and we get to use it in so many ways. Drawing cards are a favorite in our household, along with the Chronicles of Narnia series. The mindful piano that came with this is also great for bedtime! The size is so compact that it is great to take on car trips or allow in the bed as littles fall asleep. What a fantastic way to introduce more read alouds and music in a safe, controlled way. This is not only functional, but also engaging, fun, and adds quality to our days.

This is our first Yoto and the whole family loves it. I love that you can make your own cards and put your own content on the cards. This is one of the main reasons I went for the Yoto so we would not be constantly buy more cards. My 6 year old and 10 year old love the player. I was most surprised by the Yoto Daily Podcast, that is free with the player. We love listening to it everyday. Jake is so fun and entertaining. It is very entertaining. I was honestly surprised by the amount of free content provided. The size is perfect for travel and being handled by little hands. We are a homeschool family and I love that I can put audio books on the player. We have not had it long enough to know how it hold up to drops and bumps, but it appears to be very well constructed and durable.

Nice music player for a toddler. My 1.5 year old loves it. It seems durable. It’s held up a few months so far. I think it’s easy to use. My toddler hasn’t figured out all the buttons yet but he’s also a little younger than the target age range. I’m sure he’ll figure it out soon but until then he’s able to listen to the music and he really enjoys the nursery songs card.

I wanted to get my kids something interactive for Christmas that did not involve too much screen time. I was on the fence about the Yoto Mini, worried that the kids wouldn’t use it. I am so happy I ended up getting it. It was the kid’s favorite present! They love being able to play music and listen to stories on their own. They even like the daily podcast! This will be perfect for long car rides or when we need quiet time.

It is easy to use and the music are relaxing. Helping my kid to fall a sleep sooner. But the battery is not enough

Great product. The app has lots of free stuff you can get as well (not even just through yoto club). Our 14mo old loves listening to music on it. Very cool that you can use it as a general speaker too. When you’re away from wifi you need to use the cards. The yoto radio and podcast are cool. Our toddler goes to sleep to the sleepy stories every night! Would recommend for sure and think it will only get better as she gets older.

This was a bit more involved to set up initially than I’d expected, but the extra set up is worth it because of the added functionality. The actual unit is very simple to operate for a small child. But from your phone you can also control the unit remotely, back up the story cards so that if you lose one you can upload it to a blank card, and download more content to blank cards. Plus you could play the stories on your phone if you didn’t have the player with you. My son loves it and spends hours listening to stories while he plays with other toys as well. Great alternative to screens, and great for travel as it has a headphone jack. My son gets motion sick if he doesn’t look out the window in the car, so this is the perfect solution for long drives. The sound quality from the tiny little speaker is also surprisingly good for the size. I haven’t seen the full-size Yoto, but to me the mini is the better option for portability. Also has a sleep-timer via the app for bedtime. I’d recommend opening it up and setting it up fully before gifting it to a kid so they don’t have to wait for you to figure it all out!

My son loves it

This was purchased for my four year old grandson, who loves a story & a sing song. I liked the idea of this not having a phone-like screen, being controllable by an adult, being compact & self-reliant enough to travel & most of all, being able to "grow" with a child's age & development. Research shows that there is a wide spectrum of material available for the Yoto, both new & used, with the possibility of swaps too. It's still early in our journey of discovery with this little device, but so far its purpose seems to be being fulfilled admirably and is being enjoyed immensely.

The Yoto Mini 2024 Edition is good and works well for my baby. Everything functions as described. However, the product appears much bigger in the Amazon photos than it is in real life. When I received it, it was very small compared to how it looks online. It may be a zoom issue in the pictures. Still, it’s a good product overall and does the job.
