Dewar’s 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky, 40% ABV, 70cl / 700ml, Double Aged in First-Fill Bourbon Casks for Extra Smoothness

This is a very smooth blend indeed: sweet with a caramel finish. Don't believe the nay-sayers who reckon a blend is somehow intrinsically inferior to a single malt: there are many fine blends that disabuse this hackneyed view (and this is one of them: another being Suntory Hibiki 12 Years Old Blended Whisky 50 cl : which, admittedly, is a tad more pricey!). Simply put, this is a great scotch (and one that can happily be enjoyed neat or with water). Attractive bottle too.

I bought this for my dads birthday. I was really surprised at how quickly it came and I got notifications of when it was coming so that was nice and easy. My dad was extremely happy with his present. He is a keen whisky drinker but had never tried this one. My friend recommended it to me as it is his favourite. He said it was a lot smoother than is other collection and now its his favourite. Go me!! :)

This whisky is really quite nice for a blend, but the price point on it lets it down. I managed to pick it up for £22 the second it went on sale and to be fair it blows all over blended whiskies I've had out of the water, except for perhaps Johnnie Walker double black. My heart sank a little when I saw it was from Aberfeldy, as I didn't like the Aberfeldy 12 I tried at all, but this really is something special. Worth a try when it's on sale - don't think I would spend £35 for a blended whisky, even one as nice as this one.

Worth the money

This used to be my favourite whisky. It was just brilliant. I don't know what changed, but since they stopped supplying it in a box, they changed something else, likely blend. It doesn't taste anywhere as good as it used it, reminds me Makers Mark Bourbon. What a shame as it was so good

Fue para un regalo, pero me han dicho que es increible el sabor que tiene.

Es mag bessere Whiskys geben, aber er ist eine tolle Komposition. In der Nase sammeln sich süßer Honig und die Würze von Malz. Der Hauch einer angedeuteten Spur Sherry und Rauch, aber alles in allem mild und angenehm und komplex verwoben, kein Aroma drängt sich in den Vordergrund und erstickt die anderen. Auf der Zunge geht es weiter wie es begann, eine milde und süße Leichtigkeit von einem Whisky, verteufelt süffig und dezent ölig. Herrlich. Im Abgang keine Überraschungen. Ein Hauch Vanille, süß und mild. Kein Aroma sticht hervor, alles geht wundervoll in einander über. Insgesamt ist dieser Whisky nicht derjenige mit den meisten positiven Eigenschaften. Es gibt andere die süßer sind, manche haben mehr Sherry, ein Bourbon hat viel mehr Vanille usw. Aber es ist meiner Meinung nach der Whisky der die wenigsten negativen Eigenschaften hat. Da ziep nix, da fiept nix. Wer diesen Whisky zu scharf findet, der hat auch mit Baileys Probleme. Und dennoch sind die typischen Whisky Aromen durchaus da, nur eben sanft und eingewoben in eine süße Grundnote. Als Blend bekommt er klare 5 Sterne von mir. Wem er schmeckt und wer sich nach einem echten Single Malt als Nachfolger umsehen will, dem sei der Aberfely 12 ans Herz gelegt, er stammt aus der selben Destillerie und hat ganz ähnliche Eigenschaften, aber alles deutlich intensiver. Aber auch der Cragganmore wäre ein gute Nachfolger für alle die die Welt der Single Malts kennen lernen wollen, sich aber noch nicht an Extreme trauen.

Non è certo uno Scotch Whisky da grandi intenditori, però per l'uso casalingo, saltuario e senza svenarsi, è buono, anche in cocktail come l'Old Fashioned. Non è una esperienza gustativa particolare o nuova, ma è assolutamente onesto.
