Alfajor Chocolate Box 12 Alfajores

Having been born in Buenos Aires of American parents and lived their until the age of eleven, some of the treats that I thought were unique to Argentina (but now know to be more widespread in Latin America and Europe) were empanadas (greasy breaded meat/olive/rice pastries), churras (pure sugar!) and alfajores. These are one of the known Argentine brands (the one I remember was Suchard) and true to its origins.They are very well packaged. Each alfajor is wrapped in individual foil, then wrapped in sturdy plastic film, then in a cardboard box, which itself is sealed with plastic when shipped. As can be seen from the attached photos, I couldn't wait to start scarfing them up before taking pictures.They were fresh and delicious, just as I remember them. From the cross section in the last photo, you can see the traditional layers: center of dulce de leche (caramelized milk), pastry, and outer layer of dark chocolate. As I remember, powdered sugar was more common, but I'm guessing the chocolate layer stands up better to shipping.¡Macanudo![To save Googling, Carlos Gardel was a famous musician (think tango), Juan Fangio international race car driving champion]

The dulce de leche filing was wonderful; creamy, sweet and properly proportioned. The cookie was more like a biscuit. The chocolate was of good quality and the right amount. The drawback is it is expensive but well worth it.Live in Arizona. Only will buy this in winter months otherwise it will be too warm and will affect the quality of this cookie. These cookies are a well worth indulgence to have.

This are the best alfojores ever!! I love the taste!!! Perfect sweetness

Coming from a country where these were a norm, being able to get these here makes me very nostalgic. IF it doesn't fulfill a nostalgic need for you, the price is a big high. It's hard to find good alfajores where I live, so to me it's worth ordering this box every once in a while as a treat. I put it in the fridge as soon as it arrives and it lasts me a good time. I wouldn't recommend leaving it out, and I tend to try to purchase it when it isn't hot out so it doesn't get hot during transport. Just be aware of that and food safety. It's a tasty treat.

Extraordinary! Worth every bite

Great alfajores, this for me is the best brand out there. The product arrived fresh, since come from overseas and are cookies I was hoping that the product to tasted good and indeed taste amazing.

Delicious. The only negative is that the expiration date was about a month after receiving the alfajores. The price is about double From purchasing IF you were buying it while visiting Argentina BUT that is not unexpected as the alfajores were sent from Argentina. The shipping was relatively quick - a plus.
