Good product.

Makes it easy to capture an event. Easier than pushing the button on the camera. Doesn't power the camera on/off, it allows you to keep a video that won't be recorded over on the loop. Nice addition to the dash cam.

Ok, first of all, this thing is TINY! You are better off securing it to something or else you WILL lose it eventually. But I recommend using Velcro instead of the supplied 3M tape. It has a replaceable flat cell battery and you'll be glad that you have the option of taking it into your hands to separate the tight casing and replace the power cell when it's time. Basically, I consider this gadget unnecessary. It only does two things - it turns the sound on and off on your cam which is good for something, I guess, and it has a photo snap function. Say you're driving on a trip and there's a nice view of an approaching city or landscape. You press the button a few times and the snapshots are saved to your SD card folder for photos. Now you don't have to fumble with your phone while driving or worry about finding the video segment of that moment, if it hasn't been recorded over. The photos are there, safe and secure. The nerd in me likes that and that's why I don't NEED this Vantrue remote, but I want it.

THE best purchase for my Vantrue N5. NO pairing is even required, it just automatically connects to the nearest dash cam. The double-sided foam tape also makes for nearly endless mounting options. There are only two features of this remote, but they are all you will need: 1) mark file as important so it isn't deleted (triangular icon with exclamation point), and 2) turn the device microphone on or off. This makes accessing those crucial camera functions so much easier while driving, and keeps your eyes on the road! Getting on for my other vehicles next month, happy customer.

Remote Controller works well doing 2 things: 1) Mutes or un-Mutes cabin audio that may be recorded on current Loop recording, or 2) allows for manual "Lock" of the current Loop recording from a remote location (less than 2-meters) rather than manually touching the dash cam control - a manual "lock" places a digital mark so the Loop recording is saved and not overwritten 4 Stars vice 5 Stars because Vantrue does not provide directions or FAQ instructions on how to "pair" the remote controller with the dash cam Following steps provided to ensure Remote Controller will operate with a Vantrue N4 Pro; - Ensure Remote Controller Battery is active (remove plastic "pull tab" to activate) - Remove power from N4 Pro camera Unit (unplug power supply) - Wait 5-seconds - Plug power supply into N4 Pro camera Unit - Press either button on remote controller (Voice Mute/Un-Mute (top button) or Video Lock (bottom button) - Green Light will Flash once and selected action icon will show on the Camera Unit screen
