This product is high quality, with weighted and colorful chess pieces that are large enough that they are not easy to lose, but are very easy to find. The entire family can play chess together! It's even more fun and challenging than regular chess, since one player can be attacked from all directions. One piece of advice for returning the chess pieces to the black tube-shaped bag: fill two plastic bags holding chess pieces of separate colors. Then roll them up like a burrito in the chess mat, with the squares facing outwards. Take this "burrito", filled with two chess bags in the center, and insert it into the black bag all the way. Then drop the other two bags of chess pieces into the middle of your "burrito" so they fall in to fill it up, so you can zip the black tube bag shut over it. The only con, though this might just be my imagination, is that there are so many squares in the middle that it takes a while before each player truly presents much of a threat to another. This design of so many extra squares in the middle was likely made to accommodate the large table space that is likely to exist between players. You'll be playing for a while before your pieces start to meet eachother in the middle, so you might need some time for this game, but the game goes quicker if you split up into teams and the first team can win when there is only one checkmate.

My son is into chess and discovered 4-player sets after watching videos about them online. We got one for him for Christmas and have loved playing. Turns out the four player game has been around since the 1700’s; who knew? While my son plays a lot and has become a solid player, the rest of the family is still at the beginner level. The four player aspect allows those of lesser skill a better chance at surviving or even winning against more experienced players and is just fun overall! The pieces are sufficiently detailed and the ability to roll the board up and store everything in the supplied bag makes the game easy to travel with.

I've almost had it for a week now and I am impressed with the quality of the design of each piece. The peices have felt bottoms so they can easily glide across the board and don't scratch it, and easy to store. On the other hand the pieces aren't that weighted enough to where they fall over. Otherwise I would buy this product if there was a large gathering of people like a wedding or a family reunion.

This purchase was a contribution to my high school's chess club after my original Chess4 set lost its box. The regulation-size pieces are a much better thing to have and will prevent anything being misplaced. Everything came as described with no deformities, and the black bag actually will hold the board once loosely rolled up, with the pieces resting in the inner space. Whether for a standard game or the expanded play with three or four players, I have no plans to stop teaching the ins and outs of the game to students. This will also function as a backup set at a tournament by focusing on the 8x8 in the middle of the board, so it should fulfill any need the club asks of it. Yes, while there IS an odor from the board material, it should not take very long to go away. All things taken together, this is a fantastic purchase and is well worth the buy for anyone wanting to mix up the gameplay.

I got soundly beaten by my grandsons. Their strategy was simple. I simply enjoyed them cooperating with each other to take me down instead of fighting each other. Perfect tool to bridge the age gap.

I bought one of these recently and somebody loved it so much they stole it. I had to buy another for my youth group!

Comes with 4 sets of large, nicely formed plastic pieces. Board is decent for something that is soft and rolls up. Also has a nice carrying case for the board and pieces. Pretty good value even if you are just looking for a 2-player set with a bunch of backup pieces.

The board is all rubber and the moment you opened the box , there is an awful strong rubber smell. For an $80 set, I will expected more . It seem like a bad quality game from a discount store.
