Does Everything and More
This is truly a professional tool. Unless you use it regularly, it can be complicated and time consuming. I am a licensed professional and love it but it isn’t for everyone. Sometimes simple is better if you’re not a professional. Excellent if you are one.

Much better than my last scan tool.
Man this tool is great. It is far better than my old scan tool. I've had that thing for ages, and I should have bought this sooner. This Pro Elite takes me to a new level with my skills. It can expand to use a battery tester and scope and much more. The scope and battery tester are my next purchases, I can't wait to test out the scope capabilities. While this is a wired scan tool, I actually prefer that, in fact I chose this over a bluetooth one. I'm tired of losing the dongles that the bluetooth models need to work. This Pro Elite does everything those bluetooth ones does anyways. I love being able to do full system scans on this tool, my older scan tool only scanned 5 systems and that was nice back then but not anymore. I'm pretty happy with this scan tool, I did my research and it hasn't disappointed me.

Altamente recomendado.

Used with a lot of other modern vehicles
The scanner is the best I've ever used for the price. One down fall is that I didn't get the one with other modules.

Product not functioning as supposed to
Never connected back to the cnlaunch website for being able to do report function. Instructions not clear for registering product. USA support would not handle case because it was a serial number for china support. Product did update once, but wanted more updates after a week. Product does have many features for reading and communicating with car..Product will drain vehicle battery if vehicle not running due to no sleep feature and keeping screen alive. Product does not return to last place on feature list. Returns back to top of item list, and have to retrace your last steps...Recommend BUY from USA website/reseller...Returned product to Amazon

Title: Professional Technician’s Take – One of the Best Value Scanners on the Market
As a professional automotive technician, I’ve used a wide variety of scan tools over the years, including the Autel 508, 608, and Maxi series. I recently added this Launch scanner to my arsenal, and overall, I’ve been impressed—especially for the price point. Right out of the box, the first thing you'll notice is the clean, intuitive user interface and high-resolution display. It feels like a premium device, not a budget tool, and the screen quality reinforces that impression. Setup is fairly straightforward: connect to Wi-Fi, create a Launch account (if you haven't used their products before), and register the tool. It's worth noting that like many modern scanners, registration and sign-in are becoming the new norm. I do miss the old days of "plug and play," but it's a minor trade-off for the added functionality. Once set up, the scanner doesn’t require an internet connection for most functions, but it does frequently prompt you to sign in, which can get a little annoying when you're in the middle of a job. Functionality-wise, the 11-click Intelligent Diagnose feature is a time-saver. It performs a quick pre-scan to identify the vehicle make and automatically loads the correct software. From there, you can run a full health check, select individual systems manually, or jump into special functions. The health check is fast and thorough—it scans every available module and organizes the results in a clean, easy-to-read format. Perfect for pre- and post-repair documentation. It supports bi-directional control and offers an extensive list of special functions, resets, and initializations—features that are absolutely necessary with today’s modern vehicles. I’ve been especially impressed by how stable the system is compared to other tools like my XTOOL, which frequently freezes or times out. I purchased the corded version, and while it works well, I wish the cable was longer. I often have to leave the scanner on the passenger seat while working. Also, one of the securing screws on the connector broke early on, which makes the port connection feel a bit fragile during use. One standout feature is the ability to generate a QR code of the scan report, making it easy to share with customers. That’s a really nice professional touch, especially for shops offering digital inspections. Final thoughts: For the money, this is one of the most capable and reliable scan tools I’ve used. Whether you're a DIYer looking to level up or a professional tech like me, this scanner brings a lot to the table—great UI, strong features, solid diagnostics, and useful customer-facing tools. With a few minor tweaks (like a longer cord and more robust hardware), it would be perfect.

This review is for the LAUNCH X431 PRO Elite OBD2 Scanner, 2025 All-in-One New Bidirectional Scan Tool with CANFD DOIP, ECU Coding,Full System,38+ Resets, FCA Autoauth,V.A.G Guide, 2 Years Free Update I have tried a number of OBD scanners as a shade tree mechanic, and this one is the best so far. It's a professional level device which has 2 way capabilities and the ability to do ECU programming. This has far more features than I would likely ever use as a shade tree mechanic with capability for so many manufacturers & models (some of which I've never heard of). As far as a diagnostic tool to read trouble codes, I wouldn't say it found codes that my other readers couldn't find. What I like about this is its ability to connect to the internet via WIFI to help you determine possible causes for the fault codes while sitting in the car. Many other devices, you need to search separately from the reader. This will also list for you any recalls or technical service bulletins that have been issued for your car based on the VIN. What I really appreciate about this tool is the bi-directional and ECU coding capabilities. On my 2020 Mercedes I was able to 1) permanently disable that annoying "start stop" feature 2) turn off the annoying seat belt reminded alarm if I happen to not be wearing my seatbelt 3) my car is supposed to automatically close the windows & sunroof if it rains, except for some reason my sunroof doesn't close. Using this I was able to determine it wasn't turned on at the factory, and I was able to turn it on. One thing I found was set up was a bit of a chore. You MUST have a Launch ID to connect to it and use the scanner. You can get the ID through the device if you don't have one, but you need a CAPTCHA to complete the registration. It wouldn't display the CAPTCHA on my device, and it wasn't sending me an email with the code. I tried contacting the manufacturer, but the contact information on the Amazon listing it out of date for Canada. You can only contact them by phone, and the phone number provided is no longer in service. Fortunately, I was able to resolve the issue myself (not sure how, but I did). Other than the issues with set up, which I was able to resolve, this is a great tool with a ton of features that I'm still exploring. As modern cars get more and more sensors etc, it becomes harder to diagnose problems without an advanced tool. Admittedly, at this price point you may not want it if you don't fix your own cars. But my house I fix my own cars, and help with family members where I can.

This is a great scanner with more capabilities than my other tablet based scan tools. I’ve been a fan of Launch tools for a while, but there’s one really annoying issue that keeps cropping up: the need for wifi connection. This, unfortunately, is the new normal, and most full-feature scanners require internet access. The tool keeps prompting me to connect and although I can often bypass this by hitting the ‘back’ button and carry on, it’s a real nuisance while trying to do anything outside the garage or on a test drive. The workaround is to hot-spot to my phone, but I don’t know how much data this will use so best to keep a close eye on that unless you have lots of data. It’s also a lot of money to spend for a tool that doesn’t include lifetime updates - whereas several other brands do. In a professional shop, buying new software every couple of years is just a cost of doing business, but this might discourage the advanced DIYer like myself from choosing the Launch over its competitors. That aside, the hardware is great with an excellent screen and rugged case, and the diagnostic capabilities and options to customize vehicle settings are the best I’ve used. For example, I was able to turn off the seatbelt chime that becomes increasingly insistent on my Toyota, because I often unbuckle when I’m reversing a trailer into a tight campsite and the distraction of a blaring alarm isn’t helpful. I also changed the entrance lighting timers to reduce battery drain. It’s a great tool, I just wish it didn’t demand internet connectivity.

As someone with a lot of experience with scan tools from working on cars as a hobby, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this one performs. I recently added this scanner to my toolbox and was pleasantly surprised by what it offers at its price point. Right out of the box, the stand out feature is the large color display and clean, intuitive user interface. It feels more like a premium tool than a budget option. Setup is fairly easy: connect to Wi-Fi, create a Launch account, and register the device. While the requirement to sign in and register adds a layer of complexity compared to the old "plug and play" days, it’s a small trade-off for the advanced functionality modern tools provide. In terms of performance, this scanner is fast, stable, and packed with features. The 11-click Intelligent Diagnose function is a real time-saver, automatically identifying the vehicle and loading the right software. I've so far used it on 3 different vehicles and it correctly identified the make, model and year without issue. From there, you can run a full health check, dive into individual modules, or access special functions. The layout of the scan results is clear and organized. Bi-directional control works smoothly, and the tool supports a wide range of resets, initializations, and other advanced features essential for today’s vehicles. Compared to other tools I’ve used, this one has been more reliable and doesn’t freeze or crash under load. It also has the option to generate QR codes for the reports which I can see being useful for professionals. There are a few small drawbacks. I bought the corded version, and the cable feels a bit short—it often ends up on the passenger seat while I work. Overall, this is one of the most capable and dependable scan tools I’ve used in its class, and with a few minor hardware improvements, it would be hard to beat.

The LAUNCH X431 PRO elite is an advanced scan tool packed with features for serious DIYers and professional mechanics. It supports full system diagnostics, ECU coding, bidirectional controls, and even newer protocols like CANFD and DOIP. The tablet style interface is fast and user-friendly, and the 38+reset functionals make it very versatile for different brands. I like that it includes FCA AutoAuth and V.A.G guided functions, which makes working on modern vehicles much easier. The 2 years of free updates is a nice bonus, though updates after that can be pricey. Overall, it's powerful and reliable tool for anyone who needs more than a basic OBD2 scanner.

The scanner itself is works very well. My issue is that while you don't necessarily need wifi to use all the features, it does frequently prompt you to connect. I don't always have access depending on where I am using this from. At the garage or our home is fine, but if we are out on the road and don't have wifi, it's a bit annoying. You don't NEED wifi to use most of the features, so it's usually fine. We already had a launch account because we've used another one of their products, but if you don't, you'll need to create one. It is quite expensive but honestly with all the capabilities that this thing has, it's worth the money. How I review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Love this product! Exceeded expectations. Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Like this product, met expectations. Overall recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Neutral, may or may not recommend, product has minor flaws or wasn't right for me, but still decent product. ⭐️⭐️ = I did not like this product. I do not recommend it. Has some flaws and did not meet my expectations. ⭐️ = Item belongs in the garbage/Major flaws.
