ASUS RT-BE92U Great Router at a very Generous Price...Buy it and Do Not Believe the Bad Reviews
Was skeptical about purchasing this router... Setup was easy as the Asus app is very easy to use. On the routers initial firmware from the box...it is reluctant to disconnect you from the internet but, with latest firmware update...the router is steady and can easily handle multiple wired and wireless connections. I do have several streaming devices (10) including gaming and especially I am able to work from home without any disconnection issues from a server. Asus MLO feature was the initial culprit issue... it was included on the bandwidth and many of the devices just aren't ready for 6g or wifi7. If you are on the fence about this router...don't be. It is awesome and very customizable. You can disable MLO or disable wifi7 or disable 6g... and then use it when you want or when devices catch up to wifi7 or 6g. The latest firmware update included a check box to MLO under the Professional tab to allow the user to uncheck the option to include or dis-include the 6g band...user also has the option to separate the bands (smart connect). I hope that this review helps those wondering about this issue. It is the users fault as to why this router has bad reviews...the router is powerful and is awesome and is fully customizable as is all of ASUS products...not limited or generic. User has the choice as to what the routers capabilities are and what the router is being used for...goal of the user.

Good luck in finding a fully functional BE92U. I bought and returned THREE in a row.
What can I say about this non functional router? This unit would NOT connect up to my modem in any way. Not even manually. Not like this is the first ASUS routers I have owned, as I have used (and still do at another location) AC86u and AC68, both doing a yeoman job of routing lots of data. But this abomination of a router is simply not worth the money. I purchased one that connected but the 6 gz channel didn't work. Returned it. Replaced it with another one- wouldn't connect to modem. I set it up downstream as a "double NAT" just to check it out. Speed was OK but the radio didn't work still. Used multiple devices to detect it to no avail. Returned that one. 3rd unit- still wouldn't see my modem so at that point I gave up and returned it also. Cautiously purchased a GL-MT6000 (GL.NET) and hoped for the best. Fewer bells and whistles but very functional and reliable. Recognized my modem instantly and off I went. Be aware that ASUS has been dropping in quality steadily for quite a while. Check out ASUS forums and see how unhappy people are with their products AND support. I hope that they will wake up and turn their ship around and rediscover the quality that they once had and build products that actually work again. Good Luck.

BE92U Operation Stabilized after latest update and hard reset of all nodes.
After reading the bad reviews and seeing the high unit return rate, I decided to take the risk. I installed an ASUS BE92U/BE 9700 to replace an old ASUS RT AC86U. My goal was to provide a stronger signal and the newer and faster 6G in the home "Mesh". I have four ASUS routers connected by wire (1G Ethernet) to cover the 4000 SQ ft area of a ranch house including an outdoor pool area. The size/shape and type of construction (brick/cement) required more routers than normally needed. I have had very good experience with these ASUS routers, the older model units has been in service in this attic for 10 years , surviving heat in the summer and cold in the winter. So with that kind of record, I felt the ASUS product deserved a try. After installation in the Attic for 5 days it survived a couple of 90 degree (F) days, and worked well. Suddenly, on a subsequent cooler day with 80 degree temperature high - the unit went offline, and the Gateway (an RT-AXE7800) stopped broadcasting any WIFI signal. A power cycle reboot did not recover operation of the gateway. So all units were factory reset, and I added each node back, one by one. Coincidently, an update for the BE92U came out (July 4?) while was restoring operation, so I installed the new update. The mesh had been operating for 7 days with ASUS BE92U as node in the mesh.

Easy set-up, very fast, feature rich. I am impressed so far!
So far so good! I got this for my home network wanted something full-featured without the subscriptions. My previous device would stutter and take a while for the decent picture when watching youtube and netflix. I hooked this up behind my ISP firewall (currently doublenatting) and notice the speeds are great I can stream music, while wife on video conference call and I can run a speed test with my phone all at the same time with no interruptions! My last firewall would stutter when I launched a new application from another device on occasion. I like that I can check status from my phone. I just set this up a few minutes ago so still playing with the settings. I did have an issue not able to log into the device after I changed the Wifi Password, should not be related but affected my login. I had to power cycle the device and then it all came back. I am using the USB port by connecting it to a spare 4 tb Hard Drive where I keep my music and back up files. So far everything is working well. Wi-fi speeds are decent. Most of my gear runs wifi 6 and MIMO, backwards compatibility is not an issue.. I have not tested any of the filters. The wall mount a bit flimsy but it works but hard to hide the wires, Wish the USB port was at a different angle, so it does not push the bottom out when mounted on the wall.. I worked for 24 years with Cisco network devices and firewalls, this was easy to set up, has a help on each menu and a setup wizard. It then lets you go pretty granular into the settings. I think they did a nice job on this one. Asus is from Taiwan not mainland China so hopefully it does not leak data.

Fantasic speeds, but some initial mesh issues
Speed is very good, but there were issues from the outset with dropping connectivity with XD5 and XT9 mesh nodes. Did require firmware updates and factory reset and reconfigure after, but no issues since.

I should have listened!!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS
GOSH, I wish I could cuss on Amazon reviews! I hate myself for doubting the reviews. Everywhere you look, it’s 80% bad, 20% saying "user error." I should’ve listened. I wanted to future-proof with WiFi 7, but forget it. DON’T BUY. Yes, ASUS makes great products and a lot of people love them, but their customer support is absolutely horrendous. The support folks kept asking me if the router was near a microwave. I was like, GEEZ, I’m not talking about weak signal!!!! It keeps rebooting randomly!!! I work in IT. First thing you check? Logs. ASUS said submit them, so I did, three times over a month. No response. When I called back, the new rep had no idea what I was talking about. I had to pitch a fit just to escalate. The escalation rep was “nicer,” but while I waited (and missed the Amazon return window), ASUS kept dragging this out..... and still never reviewed my logs. Unreal. It’s clear now: companies don’t want to pay real tech support for a $250 product. Easier to offer a refurb and move on. But I’m not accepting a refurbished unit when I bought it brand new and it’s been broken since day one. ASUS does make excellent routers, some of them. But this model is just bad. It should be pulled from the market. The reviews are right, and I’m mad at myself for not listening. This router was dropping my video calls during meetings. I eventually had to buy a second router out of pocket just to keep working. I finally turned to Asurion for help, and even that was hard, they needed a denial or service letter, but ASUS wouldn’t provide one. Because the manufacturer’s warranty came first, Asurion technically couldn’t step in unless ASUS "finished" their support, which meant taking their garbage refurb. I told them: So what? I’m stuck with two routers now? This makes no sense. Thankfully, Asurion made an exception. Never used them before and didn’t know if buying their protection plan was worth it BUT it absolutely is. ASUS makes solid products when they work, but if anything goes wrong, you’re on your own.

Best router ever in my life, best C/P and over values feature fucntion and performance.
I used ASUS router over 15 years (starting by 802.11a/b age, modifing into Asuswrt-Merlin firmwrae) , everytime I change / upgrade into the new one, always give me better and better feeling. This time, again, the BE92U gives me solid, reliable, high performance experience in high C/P values. Reasoned by one of my old AiMesh router dead so I get this to become new master. AiMesh / router features / setup all flowless and smooth, simply and easy, Wifi 7 cannot test, I don't have device can do yet, but WiFi compatibility has no problem at all in my case. (entire family house TV / PS 4 & 5 / mobile phones / tablets / notebooks / TV boxes all working well) The best of this router comes with both 10Gb x1 and 2.5Gb x4 ports, each of 1 port can set at WAN/LAN as needed, which grealy help and save my time to get extra 10Gb/2.5Gb switch and I can upgrade my home PC / NAS network speed much easier. I just got my 10Gb card for my Synology NAS, will do 10Gb test later. Overall say, this router is worthy and even over values, my side (HK) price is in double, Amazon the best. (Or in extreme way, if you travel in Japan, go check there, price maybe even 5% lower)

Still has issues be cautious
Fast great router until it stops working and reboots. The router was updated to the latest firmware of Sept 2025 and the memory usage is 78% (Most ASUS routers show 50-60% memory usage) on a reboot. As the router gets demands the memory goes higher and higher then you loose internet and it finally reboots. Tried Merlin Firmware also slightly lower memory usage but the same thing happens. My hardware was v3. Loved the router when working hopefully these issues will be resolved in further updates. So right now had to return the router. Purchased Another case mine was a faulty unit, this was H/W v4 tried latest Asus firmware and Merlin with both unit were totally unstable, memory usage went up quickly IoT devices went offline signal dropped and then crash. Not always a reboot just hung. Have tried full reset several times even reset twice before setup always the same result. Really like the router but just had to send back. Would be interesed in what hardware versions other people have recieved? Both v3 and v4 hardware say Manufactured 2025 on the unit. Seems Asus are triing to resolve something by building new H/W versions.
