Plug and play
I had an older Chromecast device that I had been using for years to stream from my phone to my tv. Recently I could not stream anything from Appletv or peacock. It would act like it was going to work and once playback started the screen would go black though you could hear the audio and see the closed captions.Looked at everything out there and took a chance on the fire stick. This thing was plug and play. plugged into the wall, into the tv and downloaded the app to my phone and setup only took a couple of minutes and was well connected. Now I can cast/mirror my phone screen, appletv, peaccock and Prime with the remote control, which works way better than my dish tv remote for functionality and ease of use. I still have to switch the tv back to dish networks input for that but it is easy to do.Wish I had done this sooner I particularly like the remote and the app, which can also be used as a remote.

You gotta get one
This was a game changer and I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. We were using an older Google chromecast in our bedroom and it worked out for a while but I always had to stream from my phone. It eventually took a dump on me and we decided on the firestick since we had a Amazon based built in on another newer TV downstairs. This was so easy to set up. You basically just plug this in and follow the prompts on the TV with the remote that it comes with. It already knew my account login (which was slightly worrisome) but I'm guessing because of all the Amazon connections and logins already going on so I just had to download the apps I wanted and sign into those, like Max, Disney+, Netflix, ect and you are ready to go. No more streaming from my phone. But it has that capability, so its nice to have that option still. You can also download a few music apps like Spotify or Amazon music and listen straight from the TV. I haven't had any issues with memory filling up or any freezing or connection problems. My TV is an older Sony and isn't 4K but the firestick still works like a charm. The price was very very worth it!

Better than a smart TV
I purchased this HD Fire Stick in the hope of solving a problem I've had using streaming with my name brand smart TV. There is nothing wrong with my smart TV other than it developed an issue recently where the display would go black whenever I tried to access a premium service. I was about to go down the research rabbit hole when it dawned on me that a Fire Stick could be a great workaround. I should add that I already have an older Fire Stick HD that I'm using for streaming on my older, non-smart TV so I had confidence in the Fire Stick as a simple solution. I did have two concerns, one was that there would be compatibility issues with the native smart TV and, two, how would the Fire Stick intergrate into my home theater setup. Both issues vanished once I setup the Fire Stick HD. It seamlessly intergrated into my home theater setup and is seen as a different source independant of the native smart tv steaming capabilities. The only issue I do need to resolve is that the Fire Stick is seen as an unknonwn source which requires I override the default source in favor of the Fire Stick every time I wake up the TV. I haven't spent any time trying to solve that issue but I'm confident there is a solution. As I've already mentioned, this is the second Fire Stick HD under the same roof and on the same network. I don't quite understand but the setup program recognized there is another Fire Stick and offered to use the same settings which is where my confusion comes into play. I selected yes to the settings but still had to download and install my apps for this Fire Stick. I also had the usual issues dealing with account information and passwords for my premium channels but that is outside the scope of the Fire Stick setup. I agree with the articles I've read stating the Fire Stick is a marvel of intergration and packaging and is far superior to even the best smart TV implementations. There is a caution to anyone wishing to purchase a Fire TV Stick, there are three types, the Fire Stick lite; this one - The Fire Stick HD, and the premium offering, the Fire Stick 4K. In addition, each type has seen several releases and its nearly impossible to tell an older release from a current release. One example is my older Fire TV Stick HD has a different remote from this newer one, the old remote doesn't have the four premium channel buttons on the bottom however both this newest HD version and the 4K version appear to share the same remote. To add to the confusion, Amazon offers a premium remote that has backlit keys and a headphones button but is not a Fire TV stick, its only a premium remote.

Great way to make to DIY a smart TV
I’ve been using the Amazon Fire TV Stick for a few weeks now, and it’s been a total game-changer for my home entertainment setup. The setup process was incredibly easy—just plug it into your TV’s HDMI port, connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re good to go. The interface is super user-friendly, even for someone who isn’t very tech-savvy.One of the best things about the Firestick is that it works with virtually all TV brands. I tried it on both my Samsung and my older LG TV, and it worked flawlessly on each. Once set up, you can download and install a wide variety of apps, from Netflix and Hulu to Disney+, YouTube, and even live TV services. The App Store has pretty much everything you could want.Navigation is smooth, the remote is simple with voice control through Alexa, and the overall performance is fast and responsive. Whether you’re watching movies, sports, or streaming music, the Fire TV Stick delivers excellent quality without the need for a smart TV.If you’re looking for an affordable, versatile, and easy-to-use streaming device, the Amazon Fire TV Stick is a fantastic choice.
