6 Size Wood Threading Kit & Bits for Sizes 1/2'' through 1-1/2''

Heard Beall went out of business and I've always wanted this. I wanted to get before it was gone for good.I have not tried this kit yet. Kit was to have a 60° 1/4" carbide bit but it didn't.I plan to use a Powertec bit. I heard they are the new Rockler and can't wait to try them both out.

Product was as advertised and delivered on time...

Just received the product. Appears to be well made and engineered. However, my kit did Not come with the threader router bit. The item description specifically states that the router but is included….I hate returning products, so I just ordered the 60 degree router bit from another manufacturer…..I would have ordered it sooner had I known that the kit did not include the bit. Very disappointed so far, before I even used the item……

The description states“This 6 size kit includes: The jig, hardware, router bit, inserts & taps for doing 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" sizes and instructions. Specifications 1/2" Threader is 8 TPI (Threads Per Inch) 3/4" & 1" Threaders are 6 TPI Optional Nut Template Guide - A very handy pattern for creating several sizes of wooden hex nuts. The Nuts & Bolts of Woodworking Book - Sheds further light on this excellent tool and is fertile with projects and ideas.”As I read it, the optional Nut Template and Woodworking book is included with the price. It is NOT. So ditch this seller and buy direct from Bealltool. I haven’t used this yet, just a review about Viking Tools.

I've enjoyed making some nuts and bolts as gifts.

After days of trying to get a decent thread cut using the ubiquitous, craptacular threadboxes (sold many places, obviously all made in the same factory), I had had it and decided to get this. This worked immediately and I got a working thread my first try. The taps are really high quality as well. It really couldn’t be easier. I used a DeWalt corded trim router hooked up to dust extraction, but much to my surprise, it didn’t make much dust.Another advantage over the threadboxes is that you do not need to soak the dowels in mineral oil in advance to get a clean thread. Just cut it - no prep needed. I did use a bit of BLO to tap the hole, but I’m not sure it was necessary. The instructions don’t say to use it, but I did anyways. I used purpleheart and hickory - both cut nicely.If you are considering this or the threadbox approach, just save yourself a lot of headaches and get this.If you, like me, are frustrated with those awful threadboxes sold everywhere, and you need threads, just get this. You won’t regret it.Shipping was kind of slow despite being prime and it arrived later than it was scheduled to, but I won’t ding the product for that - but be aware that it might take a bit longer to get it if you are in a hurry.

Once setup works great
