I got this to make authentic al pastor chicken for my daughter's birthday. It worked really well and now im trying to find other things that I can make with this. It's really sturdy and I was able to put 3 pounds of boneless chicken thighs on it.

After a trial run, this is actual a niche kitchen tool but also a great one. Works like you would think, no surprises, other than its purpose; to cook a pile of marinated chicken or beef. Easy cleanup.

I bought this "trompo" to make al pastor. I purchased the 10" size as that seemed like an appropriate size based on the picture in my cookbook. I prepared the recipe using a 7lb boneless pork shoulder. I used the longest spike (12") and layered the sliced pork with about 3" to spare on the top. Everything looked great but except the 10" pan is way too small for this amount of meat! Thankfully, I put the whole setup onto a quarter sheet before baking because the juices WAY OVERFLOWED and spilled over onto the sheet pan! If I hadn't done this, my oven would've been an absolute mess! So just be forewarned: Just because the meat will fit on the spike doesn't mean that the pan is big enough to hold the juices that will drip. The 13" pan size might've been somewhat better, but I still think the juices would overflow for this amount of meat especially since the sides are very shallow. So, in conclusion I subtracted a star since they shouldn't offer a 12" spike to accomodate a lot of meat if the pan on the bottom is going to be too small. This is deceiving to the customer and will make a huge mess if you don't put something underneath! If you're making smaller servings that only require the 8 or 10" spike, then maybe there won't be as much drippings, but for the 12" spike, forget it. If you have the room in your cabinet for storage, I recommend just going ahead and getting the 13" pan size to be safe for a few bucks more, especially if you're cooking al pastor (which I highly encourage) or other large amounts of meat. Otherwise the pan itself and the spikes seem quite sturdy and the trompo felt secure when the spike was screwed in. The spike was sharp enough so that it was easy to spear the meat. I didn't use the basting brush but it seemed it was of decent construction and the whole kit was packaged nicely. I paid $19.99 + tax for mine so it isn't like I'm going to lose sleep over this anyway. PS. Here's a tip: To make cleanup easier, I stuck a piece of parchment paper through the spike to cover the pan before layering the meat. This way the sugars from my al pastor marinade didn't burn onto the bottom. It helped, I guess, because washing the pan in the sink after was super quick. The spike was easy to clean as well and virtually wiped clean. My al pastor wasn't as pretty as some but the it tasted AMAZING. But, Amazon can't take any credit for that outcome. I will definitely be making this recipe again so I will use this trompo again, but I will ALWAYS, ALWAYS place it on a sheet pan before baking!

We bought this to give it a try & it's really easy to use and is the perfect size pan for 2-4 people, but I am also going to order the bigger one, as well, for when we have company. The pan and skewer are both really well-made and sturdy.

Just what I needed for making Tacos al Pastor. 3 lengths of skewers were nice, nice to be able to adjust to fit different cookers. Once I got it stacked high with slices of pork, pineapple and onion, it was still very stable. The pan does a great job of collecting the juices/drippings, which was handy since I wanted to spoon them back over the meat during cooking. This really let me turn out the perfect Tacos al Pastor. I trimmed the food it off a little at a time while it was still on the skewer, just like the real thing. Cleaned very easy as well. I definitely recommend this for anyone that enjoys grilling/smokering.

Awesome for any oven! Comes with 3 heights of skewer stick and is well made. I skewered a piece of parchment paper to catch drippings on the bottom and it worked great. Washes easily.

worked well one time used but then broke with the nut shearing off that holds the spit on. Now not usable. Recommend doing what i saw on Insta with covering it in foil to make for really easy clean up.

Works great! Recommend the Al Pastor marinade from the Superstore if you don't want to make it from scratch.
