Exxcellent shelves but get the right tools for assembly
I purchased three of these shelves for my garage and assembled them in about two hours total. The metal is finished well (the finish looks like a tough powder coating) and I think they'll hold plenty of weight once assembled. As other customers have noted, the metal struts are made of thin material and they will bend easily, so a lot of the shelving unit's final strength comes from the fully assembled structure. The shelving kit includes a toy plastic hammer for assembly. It did nothing, as other reviewers have noted. I think the addition of cotton work gloves to protect your hands was a very thoughtful gesture by the manufacturer. However, I used my own heavy work gloves with a non-slip coating. For proper assembly and maximum strength, I advise using a rubber mallet, which will have the necessary mass to drive the shelving's metal struts home. I used the mallet by itself to assemble the first of my three shelving units and found that the mallet easily bent the metal struts, so I added a 10-inch piece of 1x3 scrap wood to my assembly toolkit. By positioning the wood on top of the fold where the shelf will eventually sit, I was able to bang on the wood and drive the metal struts home so they full engaged the keyhole slots for maximum assembled strength and did not bend any more metal struts in the process. The wood block spreads the mallet's impact over the strut's strongest point (the shelf ledge formed into the strut) and therefore avoids bending the metal. Don't forget to add the center shelf supports before installing the thin hardboard shelves, again for maximum strength. You need to bend the two metal tabs on the center supports before installing them. The support is made of thin metal, which bends easily with just fingers. Each shelving unit is supplied with two silver locking pins for tying multiple shelving units together. I found these locking pins to be very useful and, again, needed my block of wood to fully drive the locking pins into the keyholes. I also found that the struts on the assembled shelves tended to pop out as I moved the assembled shelves into place and locked them together with the pins, so be sure to check and make sure all of the metal struts are still fully engaged after you get everything set in place. If one strut pin does disengage, It's a simple matter to pop a strut and bang it back in place. Do all this right and you'll end up with a fairly strong set of shelves for a very low price. These shelving units cost half of what I paid for four other units I installed in my garage two years ago yet they're nearly as strong and hold more stuff, although I doubt they're as study. I don't store a lot of heavy stuff, but I've got a lot of tools and other things to store. One final warning: there are corner brackets that tie each pair of corner struts together to make a full-height unit. I failed to see the word "UP" stamped on the bracket and didn't assemble the first shelf correctly. Although the shelves will work if these brackets are upside down, if you don't get it right, you won't be able to fit the plastic locking pins into place on the brackets. For maximum strength, I had to partially disassemble and reassemble my first shelving unit due to my own lack of attention. The markings are there, but they're hard to see in a typically lit garage. It cost an extra minute to fix my mistake, so it's well worth redoing if you make the same misstep. For what they are and what they cost, I think these are excellent shelving units.

Sturdy and Excellent Storage
Bought four sets already and plan to buy eight more (at time of my purchase, a set of 2 was cheapest route). Once assembled, these are very sturdy and very strong. Using mine as room divider between one part of the garage and the workshop part of the garage. They put together in two parts, that then stack if you want them tall like the product image. Before stacking, I leaned on one with all of my weight and it didn't budge. It is stronger than it seems like it would be considering the cheap materials. The black frame looks nice, and it is very simple to assemble. The shelves are repositionable even after assembly. Since I will be putting reams of paper and heavy paints on some shelves, I have added furring strips beneath those particular shelves since past experience tells me shelves in general tend to appear fine for awhile under heavy weight, then bow. Regardless, these are absolutely excellent. I set mine side by side to separate one part of the garage from another, reserving an L shaped outer part for storage and a work shop but the larger, inner part as a playroom. With these shelving units side by side, I simply attached wall panels to the back side; one day, I will make proper wall dividers with 2x4s and drywall and insulation, but this is perfect for now. For stability from tipping, I attached the top edge of the wall dividers to a furring strip, then used L brackets to attach to the ceiling; I also used the included wall mounts from the shelving units to attach to the garage walls on the one side. If you leave the bottom shelf off and are not worried about potential flooding, you'll have an extra shelf per unit to use. Since I bought four units, that gives me four shelves. I used a 2x2x2 block of furring strip in each corner of each shelf, screwing the edges of the shelves into it so that so the shelves stay assembled since they otherwise do not connect together without the legs. Then I set up a shelf adjacent to the wall, left a space large enough for a shelf beside it, then set up another shelf. I used my "extra" shelves to screw into the open area between, effectively giving me a third free shelf for storage. All I did was put a section of furring strip at the inner edge of the existing shelf, then screw through my cheater shelf edge, through the existing shelf, and into the furring strip section. Since I am buying even more shelving, I will have one free shelf for every four that I purchase, as long as I set the shelves up in between two existing shelves then screw them together. My set up in the end will be a wall of shelves facing a wall of shelves with a walkway in between. My adjoining L section of the garage faces the garage door that slides open; I am building a plywood counter across this entire space, allowing access space on either side (one side that leads to the other leg of the L with my walls of shelves, and one side leading to the inner portion of the garage). This counter will have deep plywood shelves beneath as well as narrow plywood shelves above. I will buy more of these awesome, versatile shelves to place along the garage door opening itself, but keep them only half height so I have maneuverability with moving wood around above them. I will buy wheels to put them on so they can be moved if desired, and see all I need to do is attach a block of wood to each corner that that the wheels can attach to. As a single mom wanting to use my garage space for storage, a workshop, and a playroom, these shelves are proving absolutely fantastic in helping my garage look nice while giving me a place to put everything. To look even nicer, eventually I will hang up curtain rods and curtains (using shower curtain hooks for easy sliding on the rods) in front of all of the shelves; this will reduce dust that settles within while making the area look nicer, yet still have easy access to everything on the shelves

These are shockingly good for the price!! No lie!!
I bought four shelves, they all arrived 100% intact. When I unboxed the first one I breathed a sigh of relief. I was pleasantly surprised by how decent the materials felt. Nothing feels "cheap", nothing feels soft, rickety, or unsafe. For $50 each, the materials and overall build quality is much nicer than expected. Assembly was simple and intuitive, I got all four set up in about 90 minutes. You WILL need a real hammer, as others have said. The included mallet is a joke, but that's not a big deal. The final product is very nice. It looks GOOD, which I wasn't expecting. Practical, conservative design. Nothing unnecessary. It feels perfectly stable. When I shake the shelves around with my hands, I feel confident about the structural rigidity. They should hold up well with light-medium duty use. The shelving boards actually feel completely fine, I expected them to be thin and fragile. They're not bad. They will hold various boxes just fine. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I would recommend them to anyone who needs extra shelving in their attic, garage or basement.

Assembly nightmare in a box!
I know you’re wondering why I titled it the way I did and still gave it four stars. Here’s the backstory (pics included).... I ordered two of these a few months ago, and they were an absolute dream to put together! I think I probably got both of them assembled in a notch over an hour. They are so very sturdy and are holding up very well with all the weight that I have loaded onto them. That being said, if you didn’t have the pleasure to have the experience to assemble these shelves first, and strictly got the one I am reviewing, then it probably won’t seem like such a big deal. I recently decided I needed a third rack to go with the first two. Went into my account to my past orders, and ordered a single one from the exact same manufacturer. It doesn’t seem like these bars are as high-quality as the other two racks. They seem to bend easily if you tap them into the slots too hard. As another reviewer said, throw that little toy hammer away because it is not going to help you at all! Use a rubber mallet gently because it will bend. While I was trying to assemble the second bars on top of the bottom assembly, the whole thing just kept falling apart on me! Those bars would not stay in their notches! What I ended up doing was taking the corner sides and going ahead and assembling the whole shebang first before trying to put in the side bars. And then this one came with these nubby plastic pins to insert into the connector part to hold it together. My previous racks did not have that at all; thank God because I probably wouldn’t have bought this third one. I ended up taking these little pins apart… I inserted the small piece into the hole first, and then used a pair of pliers to force the top piece in and then a hammer to finish it all off to make sure it was in their securely. Oh! And those plastic pins bend to uselessness also. (They forgot to mention in the booklet that about halfway through assembly you will probably have a nervous breakdown and end up throwing half of this across the garage, lol!) It helps to have a wall to lean all of this up against while assembling the connecting side bars. No matter how hard I tried, the bars just kept coming out of their notches. And I hate these center support bars compared to the ones on the other two racks. It was just such a pain to have to bend these down when the other two racks already had really nice support bars that were 1-step installation. I finally got the whole thing assembled, got the shelves put in, and it does seem fairly sturdy, but not as sturdy as the first two racks that I ordered. I’ll probably just be using this one to keep paper towels, cat litter, dog food, etc on. It’s not a horrible wreck by any means! It was just a literal nightmare to assemble compared to the first two racks. I actually found the assembly booklet for the first rack, and I took pictures of the difference and certain parts along the assembly process. I honestly am not that kind of person to complain about much of anything, but I needed to meditate after all of this... good luck!

Very nice storage shelf
Very sturdy, wasn’t too sure due to the lower price. Great height, color, and looks great with a lot of storage capacity. It was a little difficult to get together, need to be stronger than with plastic shelves. Holds a lot of weight and you get to pick shelf placement which is a plus

REIBII 5 Tier Heavy Duty Garage Shelving Handles Real Load Without Flex or Compromise
Garage storage has been a long running project at my place in Kerrville and I have gone through several iterations of shelving over the years ranging from plastic utility shelves that flexed under any real load to a mixed collection of wire rack units that were never quite sturdy enough for how I actually use the space. When I came across the REIBII 2400LBS rated 5 tier heavy duty garage shelving I was skeptical about the weight rating but decided to put it to the test against my actual storage needs, which include bins of hardware, power tools, automotive fluids, bulk supply purchases, and miscellaneous equipment for various ongoing projects. Assembly starts with unpacking a substantial amount of steel. The uprights are solid and heavy, the horizontal cross members are beefy, and everything has a consistent powder coat finish that looks good and should resist rust in a garage environment. The hardware bag contains more than enough bolts and fasteners and the instructions, while not overly detailed, are clear enough that the build process is logical from start to finish. I assembled this solo and it took roughly ninety minutes to get the full five tier unit standing and leveled. The leveling feet are a detail I genuinely appreciated because my garage floor has some variation in it and being able to dial in all four corners without shimming made the installation much cleaner. The frame construction uses a boltless design for the main shelf connections where the beam ends clip into the upright slots and a mallet tap locks them in place. This system assembles faster than traditional bolt through designs and the connections feel solid once they are seated. The additional safety bolts that go through the clip points add a layer of security that prevents any possibility of accidental disassembly from vibration or incidental contact. Once fully assembled and loaded the unit does not flex, wobble, or shift. It simply stands there doing its job like a piece of commercial warehouse racking. Load distribution matters a lot with shelving this size. The REIBII handles concentrated loads well when weight is spread reasonably across each shelf surface. I have heavy bins of fasteners, full one gallon jugs of various fluids, stacked tool cases, and heavier items on the lower shelves and the structure has not shown any sign of deflection or stress. The rated capacity across all five shelves combined is the headline number but the per shelf rating is the more practical figure for how you actually load these things, and each shelf is rated for more than enough to handle any realistic garage storage scenario. The depth and width of each shelf tier gives you meaningful storage surface area and the tier spacing is generous enough to accommodate taller items on the lower shelves while the upper tiers work well for flatter bins and boxes. The overall footprint is substantial but not wasteful and the vertical efficiency of the five tier layout gets you a lot of usable cubic storage out of a relatively small floor area. For anyone building out a garage, workshop, or utility space and needing shelving that can handle real weight without the cost of commercial racking, the REIBII 5 tier heavy duty unit is a genuinely strong choice. The build quality exceeds what you would expect at this price and the assembly process is manageable for a single person with basic tools and some patience. This is shelving you buy once and keep for years.

Center gauge metal compared to similar storage shelves.
Over the years I have assembled a number of these storage shelves sourced from different vendors and manufacturers. This one seems to have less robust build quality. I wouldn't call it flimsy but I was hoping for something closer to my previous shelving units. In the picture you can see this unit on the right compared to another unit with a better build quality. The difference is not readily apparent in the picture. This one is slightly taller and a little more narrow. The metal parts are a thinner gauge. The shelving units came with a small hollow plastic mallet. It's not just useless, it's silly. Feel free to gift this to a 2-year-old. That being said the manufacturing tolerances were acceptable and the pieces fit together with no more difficulty than other shelving units that I've assembled. They will work acceptably for light duty use. I wouldn't buy these again if I had it to do over.
