Bird seed mixtures There are lots of different mixes, but if you can, get the ones with plenty of flaked maize, sunflower seeds and peanut granules. The really Small seeds, such as millet are good for House Sparrows, Dunnocks, Finches, Reed Buntings and Collared Doves. flaked maize is loved and eaten by the Blackbirds. Peanuts and Sunflower seeds are good for Tits and Greenfinches. Mixes that contain chunks or whole nuts are suitable for winter feeding only. Pinhead oatmeal is excellent for many birds. Wheat and barley grains are (often included in seed mixtures) are really only suitable for pigeons, doves and pheasants. Review: Very smart - Bought this to replace the same feeder in green. I had the green feeder for a few years (inside a squirrel cage) but unfortunately a young squirrel managed to get its body inside the cage and chew the bottom off the bird feeder. Until then I had been very pleased with this feeder. The sliding door/filler at the top did sometimes slide open and the feed get wet but this was easily solved with some electrical tape covering the door which could be easily removed for filling and then put back on. The new one in purple looks very smart - I hope the birds will feed from it as easily as with the green one. I'm sure they will. I'm just waiting for a new squirrel cage that has smaller gaps than my present one, before I use it. Review: Not very robust - Has a swivelling top to fill which doesn't fit well so the rain gets in. I dropped it and it completely came to pieces and can't be put back together!

Not very robust
Has a swivelling top to fill which doesn't fit well so the rain gets in. I dropped it and it completely came to pieces and can't be put back together!

Waste of money.
Terrible. Let all the rain water in.

Nice
Nice feeder, however none of the birds have used it yet, despite using the feeders around it. The top does slide easily in the wind, but tape fixes that.
